Job purpose

The BorgWarner Arden campus offers two world class technical centers and a cutting-edge manufacturing facility that designs and produces turbos, fan, and fan drive components for the automotive industry. The Arden campus offers a multitude of career opportunities and is in the beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina.

This position will work with leadership of a designated production area or process to support the achievement of the goals stated in the Business Plan for Safety, Quality, Production, Cost, Inventory, Delivery, and People. 

Key responsibilities

  • Proactively identify and escalate the day-to-day issues of the manufacturing line and its team members.

  • Support Team Lead to identify line assignments of team members and communication.

  • Communicates daily with Team Leaders regarding production plan, workstation assignments, etc.

  • Communicates with Team Leader and/or Group Leader as to the status of the line such as staffing issues, status of production, etc.

  • Assist Team Leader to perform set-ups and changeovers on machinery according to specifications with the help of team members.

  • Assist Team Leader for ensuring quality checks and testing of assembled components at end of line assembly process.

  • Assists Team Leader to identify proper tooling, understanding machinery and product for quality part manufacturing.

  • Supports timely and accurate production reporting through OMS.

  • Operate equipment for team members during absences.

  • Ensure timely escalation through Andon Process.  

  • Effectively work with employees to identify issues and assist in trouble shooting activities for set-up, tooling, equipment adjustments, and other situations as needed.

  • Must be able to perform all quality and documentation requirements

  • Fills in for Team Leader as needed.

  • Make sure all 5’s is completed before the operators leave for the day.

  • Start the initial Change-Over process of the line.

  • Validate the first piece to verify the parts are running correctly, the Teamleader will finish the validation.

  • Key Zone Operator is required to run a station on a normal basis.  

  • Mentor others learning how to operate production equipment. 

  • Understand and adhere to current health, safety, and environmental policies.

  • Understand and adhere to current quality and control policies.

  • Perform other duties as requested.

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks with accuracy.

  • Attendance on the job is essential.

  • Must be able to work in a team environment.

  • Must be able to follow instructions, safety rules and regulations.

  • Ability to understand basic blueprint reading.

  • Use of hand tools and production equipment appropriate to the work performed.

  • Ability to utilise SAP/OMS/Andon transactions.

This individual will work in a way that stresses the importance of preventing injury, accidents, or illnesses to themselves or co-workers by correcting or reporting unsafe situations, incidents, or occurrences to their Team Lead immediately.
