About this role

Position Title: 7th Grade Math Teacher

Location: Great Hearts Forest Heights Upper School (5538 Research Dr, San Antonio, TX 78240)

Reports To: Headmaster

FLSA Status: Salaried-Exempt

Mathematics at Great Hearts: ​

  • Rigorous courses in Pre-Algebra, Algebra,Euclidean Geometry, and Calculus.Students study mathematics every year K-12 as part of the core curriculum. ​

  • Mathematics is not aimed at or limited to those with particular career aspirations but rather taught for its own sake because it is a we-inspiring, intellectually stimulating, and beautiful. ​

  • We explore the nature of math itself and have a pure-mathematics focus; our courses are proof-based, and taught using a largely Socratic pedagogy. ​

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Teach assigned classes using the Great Hearts curriculum and materials, preparing thoughtful lessons and cultivating an orderly, joyful classroom that supports the pursuit of truth, goodness, and beauty.
  • Provide appropriate academic support to students, monitor progress, and partner with school leadership to address academic or behavioral needs in a timely manner.
  • Uphold and model the culture, policies, and expectations of Great Hearts, including dress code, conduct, and safety procedures, contributing to a respectful and orderly school environment.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with families, initiating conferences as needed and fostering strong home-school partnerships.
  • Participate fully in the life of the academy through faculty collaboration, school events, assigned duties, and a shared commitment to ongoing professional growth and excellence in teaching.

Required/Preferred Education:

  • Bachelor's or higher degree is required for a lead teaching role
  • Certification is not required for general education
  • All majors are welcome

US Work Authorization is required.

Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a criminal history background check and fingerprint clearance in accordance with state requirements.

Travel required: May need to travel locally for training and professional development opportunities.
