Summary of the Role
The Accountant role is an integral part of the Finance Department. This person is responsible for assisting in the monthly closing process, submitting the monthly financial results/reporting in Prophet 21, Prelude, and Vena accounting systems, assisting with the preparation of the annual budget, various projects and analysis and directly supports the Canada Business Unit Controller and Corporate Controller in the day-to-day accounting for LGG LP, a subsidiary of LGG Industrial.
Responsibilities
- Must maintain 100% commitment to safety policies and procedures
- General accounting and monthly close duties for LGG Canada and Goodall Manufacturing plant
- Analyze P&L account variances and trends
- Reconciliation of all Balance sheet accounts
- Maintain Accruals records
- Cash management including cash flow and approvals in the bank
- Assist coding duties for LGG Canada’s AP department, and manage Concur expense claims, and Motus auto allowance reporting
- Assists AP duties for Deetag, LGG’s sister company, including vendor invoices, payment and reconciliations
- Maintain monthly VAT tax calculations, filings, and payments, and execute Federal Tax Instalment payments using the online banking facility.
- Preparation of various financial reports
- Assists in the preparation of information for annual income tax filing
- Assists in Annual bank and financial audits
- Improve productivity by using technology and other efficiencies
- Financial systems include Prophet 21, Prelude, Vena, and Softco
- Assist management with various projects
Skills and Abilities
- Strong oral and written communication skills a must
- Motivated professional driven to help achieve desired results
- Organized and flexible - ability to manage multiple projects/assignments while meeting deadlines
- Ability to work nights and weekends, as required
- Ability to work overtime, as required
- Reliable transportation is a must
- Independent worker who is able to work well with minimal supervision
- Proficiency with Excel a must (i.e. V-lookups, Pivot Tables, etc.)
- ERP experience a must
Qualifications
- BS/BA in Accounting required
- CPA a plus
- 2+ years of Public Accounting and/or Industry experience
