Payroll Accountant II - Hybrid, 3 days a week in office, Mequon WI
 

POSITION PURPOSE/MISSION: Perform accounting activities supporting both general ledger and cost accounting processes. Contribute to monthly close, reconciliations, and reporting to ensure accurate, compliant financial results across corporate and business unit functions. 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. 

  • 2–4 years of progressive accounting experience. 

  • Working knowledge of US GAAP, financial statements, and internal control processes. 

  • Proficiency in Excel and experience with ERP systems. 

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills. 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • 4–6 years of accounting experience in a corporate or manufacturing environment. 

  • Experience accounting for payroll, compensation, employee benefits, and other related activity 

  • Experience with Oracle, Hyperion, or similar ERP and financial systems. 

  • Exposure to audit support and financial reporting. 

  • Continuous Improvement or process enhancement experience. 

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES: 

  • Prepare and post routine and moderately complex journal entries with appropriate supporting documentation and adherence to accounting policies. 

  • Perform monthly account reconciliations and maintain reporting schedules; investigate and resolve variances and discrepancies in a timely manner. 

  • Support monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes by meeting established deadlines and coordinating required inputs across the team. 

  • Assist with audit, compliance, and internal review requests by preparing schedules, compiling documentation, and responding to inquiries. 

  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners to resolve routine accounting questions and obtain information required to support accurate financial reporting. 

  • Assist in researching accounting guidance and drafting accounting policies and procedures by gathering supporting information and documenting conclusions to promote consistent application of U.S. GAAP. 

  • Contribute to cross-functional process improvement, automation, emerging technology, AI, and data analytics initiatives that improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the accounting function.
