Job Overview Are you an experienced Accounts Assistant with a background in the hotel industry? Our client, a well-established hospitality business based in Nairobi, is looking for a detail-oriented and reliable individual to join their finance team. This role requires a strong understanding of hotel accounting practices, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively within a fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities: Process and record daily financial transactions, including revenue, expenses, and payments, ensuring accuracy and proper documentation. Prepare and reconcile daily revenue reports from various departments (e.g., Front Office, Food & Beverage, Housekeeping) Manage accounts payable and receivable, including processing invoices, making payments, and following up on outstanding balances. Assist with the preparation of monthly and yearly financial reports, including profit and loss statements and balance sheets. Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records and filing systems. Assist with bank reconciliations and ensure all discrepancies are investigated and resolved promptly. Process employee expense reports and ensure compliance with company policies. Handle petty cash transactions and maintain accurate records. Assist with inventory management and cost control procedures, particularly for food & beverage. Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate financial information flow. Assist with internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and support. Stay updated on relevant accounting regulations and hotel industry best practices. Perform other accounting and administrative duties as assigned. Requirements Key Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA-K or ACCA qualification is an added advantage. A minimum of 3 years of accounting experience in the hotel industry is required. Proven understanding of hotel accounting principles and practices, including Property Management Systems (PMS) and Point of Sale (POS) systems Demonstrated experience in internal or external audit, preferably in a manufacturing environment. Strong understanding of cost accounting, inventory management, and production-related financials. Proficiency in ERP/accounting software (e.g., SAP, QuickBooks, Sage, or Oracle). Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. High attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
