Summary of Job Duties:

The Assistant Director OR Director of Business Procurement & Operations will report to the Associate Athletic Director Finance & Reporting and work with the Senior Associate Athletic Director/CFO and the General Counsel for Athletics. The role supports the financial and operational functions of the Athletic Business Office. The responsibilities for this position will be immersed in the depths of the business office: procurement process, contract flow, primary contact for assigned sports/units, researching best practice, supporting the unit’s processes, and aiding in additional finance tasks in Workday. This position will be asked to help implement a new contract management system.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, process-driven, and comfortable working across multiple departments while handling confidential and sensitive information.

Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.


Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Assistant Director:       

  • Master’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Sports Management, related degree, or related professional certification such as CPA, CMA AND at least one year relevant experience

  • OR Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or Sports Management with at least more than one year of relevant experience

  • OR Bachelor’s degree with more than three years of relevant experience

Director:

  • Master’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Sports Management, related degree, or related professional certification such as CPA, CMA with at least three years of relevant experience

  • OR Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or Sports Management with at least five years of relevant experience

  • OR Bachelor’s degree with at least more than five years of relevant experience

Relevant Experience:

Accounting, Procurement, Contracting, Project Management or Athletic Operations

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least 3 years of experience with administrative support in a professional setting

  • At least 3 years of experience with business and fiscal related duties

  • At least 3 years of experience with procurement or contract functions

  • At least 3 years of experience with Workday or similar Enterprise Resource Planning systems

  • At least 3 years of experience with contract management or project management software

  • At least 1 year of experience Leveraging AI to Solve Problems

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of business operations and administrative functions within a complex professional organization, including procurement, purchasing, travel, fiscal management, and related business processes

  • Knowledge of applicable University policies, NCAA, SEC, state and federal laws, regulations, and guidelines governing assigned areas of responsibility

  • Knowledge of procurement practices, contract administration, purchasing processes, and applicable fiscal policies and procedures

  • Knowledge of financial and business systems, computer applications, and software used to manage and analyze operational and fiscal data

  • Knowledge of communication, customer service, and relationship management techniques in a cross functional department

  • Knowledge of computers, Microsoft Office Suite, and software application programs

  • Knowledge of how to leverage artificial intelligence and emerging technologies to improve business processes, efficiency, and decision-making

  • Ability to prepare, analyze, and present professional reports, findings, recommendations, and other business documents to leadership

  • Ability to record, reconcile, analyze, and manipulate fiscal data to generate complex reports and support informed decision-making

  • Ability to conduct research, perform quantitative and qualitative analyses, and complete quality assurance reviews to ensure accuracy and compliance

  • Ability to learn in a fast-paced environment and support the advancement of the organization

  • Ability to solve problems and present alternative solutions

  • Ability to identify opportunities for improvement while developing solutions.

  • Ability to work nights and weekends if needed
