Position Title: Assistant Manager – Engineering
Department: Engineering & Maintenance
Location: OSD (Oral Solid Dosage) Manufacturing Plant
Reporting To: Manager / Sr. Manager – Engineering
1. Role Overview
The Assistant Manager – Engineering will be responsible for overseeing preventive maintenance, breakdown maintenance, and reliable operation of all production equipment and utility systems in the OSD manufacturing facility. The role ensures compliance with cGMP, safety standards, and supports uninterrupted manufacturing operations.
2. Key Responsibilities
A. Preventive & Breakdown Maintenance (PM)
Prepare and execute the Preventive Maintenance schedule for all OSD production equipment (e.g., RMG, FBD, Compression, Coating, Blister, Packing).
Monitor equipment performance and identify opportunities to reduce downtime.
Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation issues.
Maintain maintenance logs, calibration records, and machine history cards.
Coordinate with Production to plan maintenance without affecting operations.
B. Utility Operations & Maintenance
Ensure smooth operation and upkeep of all plant utilities:
AHU, HVAC, and ventilation systems
Chillers, Cooling Towers
Boilers & Steam Distribution
Air Compressors, DG Sets
Water systems – RO, DM, Soft Water, WFI (if applicable)
Monitor utility parameters and ensure energy-efficient operations.
Address utility breakdowns and ensure quick restoration.
C. Compliance & Documentation
Ensure all maintenance activities comply with cGMP, GDP, and safety guidelines.
Prepare SOPs, PM checklists, and Work Instructions.
Participate in audits (internal, external, regulatory) and close compliance observations.
Manage engineering CAPA implementation.
D. Project Execution & Equipment Installation
Support installation, commissioning, and qualification of new equipment.
Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and validation teams.
Involve in facility upgradation and continuous improvement projects.
E. Safety & Energy Management
Ensure adherence to safety practices during maintenance activities.
Identify energy-saving initiatives and implement optimization measures.
Conduct training for technicians and support staff.
3. Qualification & Experience
B.E./B.Tech or Diploma in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering
5–8 years of experience in Engineering & Maintenance within OSD / Pharma manufacturing environment
Strong hands-on experience in PM, Utility equipment, and regulatory audits.
