Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Counselor to join our collaborative behavioral health team. As a Counselor, you will provide assessment, treatment planning, counseling, case coordination, and recovery support services under appropriate supervision and in accordance with regulatory and accreditation standards. You will facilitate individual and group interventions, collaborate with multidisciplinary treatment teams, maintain timely clinical documentation, and assist clients throughout their treatment and transition planning processes.

Key Responsibilities:

· Conduct client screenings, assessments, and intake activities under appropriate clinical supervision.

· Develop individualized treatment plans that support recovery goals and meet regulatory and accreditation standards.

· Facilitate individual counseling sessions, group counseling, psychoeducational groups, family conferences, and recovery-focused interventions.

· Guide clients in exploring attitudes, emotions, behaviors, and decision-making patterns that promote recovery and overall wellness.

· Collaborate with treatment team members through staffing meetings and case consultations to ensure quality client care.

· Assist clients with transition and discharge planning, including completion of summaries, plans, and related correspondence.

· Respond effectively to crisis situations while following agency protocols and communicating with leadership as required.

· Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation, including treatment plans, progress notes, updates, and discharge summaries.

· Complete chart reviews and documentation corrections within established timeframes.

· Build and maintain positive professional relationships with clients, referral partners, and coworkers.

· Participate in ongoing professional development and required training activities.

· Support agency goals and perform additional duties as assigned.

 

Education, Experience, and/or Credential Qualifications:

· Must meet the requirements for registration, supervision, and professional development as established by the Missouri Credentialing Board (MCB) or the appropriate professional licensing board.

· Eligible for licensure or credentialing as a Psychologist, Professional Counselor, Social Worker, or related behavioral health professional.

· Knowledge of case management, rehabilitation principles, and evidence-based approaches to mental health and substance use disorder treatment.

· Understanding of biological, cognitive-affective, and social influences on human behavior.

· Working knowledge of therapeutic theories, counseling techniques, and behavioral health interventions.

· Ability to effectively facilitate individual and group counseling services.

· Strong verbal and written communication skills.

· Ability to maintain professional documentation and manage multiple responsibilities effectively.

· Willingness and ability to provide telehealth services.

· Willingness to obtain licensure or credentialing in additional states as required.

 

Additional Qualifications:

· Must successfully complete background screenings, including criminal history, driving record, and abuse/neglect checks.

· Must attain First Aid certification within three (3) months of employment and maintain certification thereafter.

· Must attain CPR certification within three (3) months of employment and maintain certification thereafter.

· Must complete required crisis intervention and behavioral management training within designated timeframes.

· Must achieve thirty-six (36) hours of required training every two years in accordance with Missouri regulations.

· Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license in the state of residence.

· Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary treatment environment.

· Commitment to ethical practice, professionalism, and high-quality client care.

 

Physical Requirements

· Primarily performs sedentary work involving sitting for extended periods throughout the workday.

· Frequently uses standard office equipment and computers to complete documentation and client records.

· Occasionally walks or stands for brief periods while performing job duties.

· Occasionally lifts, carries, pushes, or pulls up to 10 pounds.

· Performs physical activities consistent with sedentary work as defined by ADA guidelines
