We’re looking for an Athletics Counsellor to join our growing Academic and Enrichment Counseling team as our dedicated student-athlete specialist. Working alongside four experienced Academic and Enrichment Counsellors, you’ll help build and scale CGA’s athletics pathway while guiding families through one of the most exciting and competitive university admissions journeys.

The Role

As Athletics Counsellor, you will educate, advise and support student-athletes in Grades 6–12 and their families throughout the collegiate recruitment journey. You’ll combine one-on-one advising with scalable curriculum development, helping students maximise their recruitment opportunities while ensuring they remain academically prepared for life beyond sport.

Key Responsibilities

Student & Family Advising

  • Provide expert guidance on NCAA recruitment, eligibility and collegiate athletic pathways.

  • Develop recruitment roadmaps and advise on university selection.

  • Answer student and parent questions throughout the recruitment journey.

  • Help students evaluate opportunities and make informed decisions.

  • Help students compile a university list that matches their academic profile and best fit.

NCAA Eligibility & Recruitment

  • Guide students through NCAA Eligibility Center registration and core course requirements.

  • Advise on recruitment timelines, coach communication and recruiting best practices.

  • Review recruiting materials, including athletic resumes and highlight videos.

  • Stay current on NCAA regulations, NIL, roster rules and recruitment trends.

Curriculum & Programme Development

  • Design and deliver a structured student-athlete curriculum for Grades 6–12.

  • Create workshops, webinars and educational resources that scale beyond one-to-one advising.

  • Continuously improve programme content based on industry developments.

Athlete Strategy & Benchmarking

  • Assess recruitment readiness and provide sport-specific benchmarking.

  • Help students identify realistic target universities and divisions.

  • Recommend development priorities to strengthen recruitment prospects.

  • Guide students on exposure opportunities, showcases and recruiting strategy.

  • Build relationships with collegiate coaches and external athletics partners.

What We’re Looking For

Required

  • Strong knowledge of NCAA recruiting and eligibility requirements.

  • Experience supporting student-athletes or families through the recruitment process.

  • Excellent communication, presentation and relationship-building skills.

  • Experience designing educational programmes, workshops or curriculum.

  • Highly organised with strong project management skills.

Preferred

  • Former athletics counsellor at a high school or college

  • Former NCAA student-athlete, collegiate coach or athletics administrator with experience guiding high school students for recruitment.

  • Experience in college admissions, athletic recruiting or athlete development.

  • Familiarity with recruiting platforms such as Hudl, SportsRecruits or NCSA.

  • Experience working in international education or online learning.
