Automotive Content Creator & Editor
About this role
Cazoo, is the ultimate destination for car enthusiasts and buyers alike! As a leader in the market, we pride ourselves on providing unparalleled search tools, expert car guides, insightful reviews, and a comprehensive vehicle price guide. Our mission is simple: to empower buyers to find their perfect car efficiently and with confidence, while also helping automotive retailers reach millions of eager buyers.
At Cazoo, you'll be part of a team that's revolutionising the way people buy and sell cars. If you're ready to drive your career forward in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, Cazoo is the place for you. Join us and be a part of shaping the future of automotive retail!
The Role
Most car content in the UK sounds the same: safe, same, written to please a brand guideline rather than a reader. We want someone who'd rather build something with a point of view than manage a content calendar.
You'll be the voice and the face of Cazoo's automotive content, writing everything from SEO hubs to press commentary, making video for TikTok and YouTube, and appearing on camera as our automotive expert. You'll work with agencies, creators and production partners, but the editorial standard is entirely yours to set.
If you're happiest pitching the bold idea and then actually making it, you'll like it here.
Reports To: Head of Marketing
Contract Type: Fixed Term Contract (6 months)
Location: Richmond UK, Hybrid
What you'll do
Video & social:
Own automotive video end to end, concept, brief, production, sign-off, then hand off to the Social Media Manager for publishing and analysis
Create story-led content with real cultural relevance, not brand-safe filler
Lead platform-first ideas for TikTok and YouTube that build communities people actually want to follow, not just fill a schedule
Give creative direction on edits, visuals, music and animation, and sign off on quality
Build content-led campaigns with one clear narrative running across every platform
Appear on camera as Cazoo's automotive expert
Work with new car OEMs and our commercial team to create review content
Get out to automotive events and shows to capture what's actually relevant, brief the bigger shoots, write the scripts, shape the core idea
Written content & SEO:
Write as Cazoo's named automotive expert across SEO landing pages, blogs, website copy, social, press, email and campaign materials
Own the Cazoo blog and content hubs: strategy, articles, templates, uploads, structure, and measuring what's actually working
Build genuine editorial authority under your own byline
Run keyword research with our Senior SEO Manager and help prioritise search pages on the roadmap
Use AI tools like Jasper to speed up drafting, without letting quality or voice slip
Optimise for AI search and answer engines, so Cazoo is the source cited when someone asks an assistant what to trust
Keep content current across SEO, blog, competitions and press pages on Cazoo.co.uk and dealer sites
Build automotive conversation on Reddit and other social channels
Produce case studies, testimonials and social-first content for dealers and partners
Bring commercial stories to life through strong storytelling, you're the internal champion for what content is doing and why it matters
Brand voice & external profile:
Be Cazoo's public automotive voice with our PR agency: press comment, interviews, broadcast
Shape press releases and their supporting web content
Advise on monthly press activity so campaigns stay sharp, relevant and accurate
Stay ahead of automotive trends and tech, so our content leads instead of catching up
Performance & craft:
Use performance data to work out what's landing and feed it straight back into the next brief
Support teams across the business with copywriting and creative briefs for launches and campaigns
Keep the content engine organised, assets ready to move fast, always
Test and adopt new AI tools where they genuinely improve the work
Guard the brand voice and editorial standard across everything we publish, no exceptions
What you'll bring
Essential:
Demonstrable experience in automotive journalism, content, editing or similar
Strong command of automotive terminology, vehicle specs and current industry trends
A portfolio of published automotive work, with excellent writing, editing and storytelling
Confident and credible on camera
Working knowledge of SEO (and emerging GEO), CMS platforms, and basic photo/video editing
A fearless self-starter who pitches boldly and isn't precious about ideas that don't land
Able to run multiple projects to deadline, independently and collaboratively
Experience at an automotive marketplace, dealer group, media outlet or car brand
A track record producing short-form social content that actually gets watched
Knowledge of EVs, emerging automotive tech, and how car buying and selling actually works
You'll thrive here if you:
Are ideas-led, not budget-led, you know how to make a simple idea land hard
Take ownership without waiting for permission
Can defend your ideas just as hard as you're willing to kill them when the data says so
Write copy that sounds human, confident and challenger — never corporate
Juggle multiple formats and deadlines without dropping quality
Are genuinely plugged into what people actually watch, share and talk about
