Responsible for generating revenue by promoting sales of new and existing company products, providing customer service, evaluating customer needs, and answering questions regarding parts, pricing, and services.

Essential Job Duties

  • Brand Overview
    Gearhead and Tri Star Engines are LKQ Corporation brands that support the sale of LKQ’s remanufactured powertrain components - primarily engines, transmissions, and differentials.
  • Role Overview
    This phone-based sales role supports both retail and commercial customers, including existing accounts and new prospects.

  • The position is responsible for generating revenue by promoting sales of new and existing company products, delivering customer service, evaluating customer needs, and answering questions about parts, pricing, warranties, delivery timelines, and services.

  • Provide customers with accurate information on warranties, pricing, part quality, delivery timelines, and payment methods.
  • Complete internal documentation related to transactions, including credits, invoices, work orders, interchange details, and returns.
  • Prospect for new business and develop relationships with potential customers.
  • Communicate unit prices, shipping dates, anticipated delays, and other customer-required information.
  • Recommend part substitutions or modifications when requested parts are unavailable.
  • Process orders by entering order details and reviewing handling instructions, pricing, quantities, and shipping information; dispatch orders where applicable.
  • Follow up with customers as needed to support service, sales, and order completion.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Provide relevant information on warranties, price, quality of parts, delivery times, and payment methods.
  • Complete internal documents supporting any transaction (credits, invoices, work order and/or interchange and returns, etc.).
  • Prospect and develop relationships with potential customers to cultivate new business.
  • Inform customer of unit prices, shipping date, anticipated delays, and any additional information needed by customer.
  • Advise customers on substitution or modification of part when part requested is not available.
  • Process orders – perform order entry, review orders for correct handling, pricing, quantities, and shipping data (may dispatch orders in some locations).
  • Follow-up with customers as needed.
  • Assume other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Not responsible for supervising employees.

Minimum Requirements

Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 1+ years of related experience required

Preferred Requirements

  • College coursework or degree.
  • Prior automotive experience and knowledge of automotive parts.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages and to draw and interpret graphs.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Basic messages communicated orally. May write brief messages and keep simple records. May expain and offer guidance on routine procedures.
  • Problems encountered are routine, somewhat repetitive and generally solved by following clear directions and procedures.
  • Decisions generally affect own job or assigned functional area.
  • Results are defined; sets personal own goals and determines how to achieve results with few or no guidelines to follow; supervisor/manager provides broad guidance and overall direction.
  • Prioritize assigned and routine tasks. Handle appropriately.
  • No additional competencies required.

Essential Physical Demands/Work Environment

  • Work is primarily sedentary: must be able to sit for extended periods of time and use a computer, keyboard, and mouse, frequently.
  • Travel may be required periodically, including overnight stays (contingent on position requirements).
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
