Medical Secretary / Medical Audio Typist (Bank)

About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Medical Secretary / Medical Audio Typist to join the friendly and supportive administration team at Tees Valley Hospital, part of Ramsay Health Care UK.
As a Medical Secretary, you will play a vital role in supporting Consultants and the wider clinical team by providing accurate and efficient secretarial and administrative support. Your main responsibilities will include medical audio typing, record creation and management, prioritising workloads, and ensuring the smooth running of patient administration processes.
This is a busy and varied role requiring excellent organisational skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks while working to tight deadlines. The successful candidate will be confident using voice recognition systems and able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive secretarial support to Consultants and clinical teams.
Produce accurate clinical correspondence through audio typing and voice recognition systems.
Create, maintain, and update patient records in a timely manner.
Prioritise workloads effectively to meet strict deadlines.
Manage multiple administrative tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Escalate issues appropriately using sound judgement.
Maintain confidentiality and accuracy in all patient-related documentation.
Contribute to the delivery of high standards of patient care through effective administrative support.
Essential Criteria
Proven medical audio typing experience within a healthcare environment.
Excellent typing speed and accuracy.
Experience working to tight deadlines in a busy and changing environment.
Strong organisational and time management skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
High level of attention to detail.
Computer literate, including Microsoft Word, Excel and other office systems.
Ability to multitask and work effectively as part of a team.
Self-motivated, adaptable and professional approach to work.
Desirable Criteria
Knowledge of medical terminology.
Healthcare administration experience.
Experience using voice recognition systems.
NVQ Level 2 in Administration (or higher).
AMSPAR Diploma.

Successful candidates will be required to complete an audio typing assessment as part of the interview process. This position is subject to a satisfactory DBS disclosure and all offers of employment are conditional upon clearance.
