Job Profile Summary
Lead Business Analyst/Principal Business Analyst is an exciting business focused Individual Contributor role, part of the critical Data, Analytics and AI function being built grounds-up within India as part of Global Capability Center (GCC) for Data & Analytics Office. This role serves as the critical bridge between Product Managers, technology teams, data consumers, and business stakeholders to define, deliver, and continuously enhance strategic data products.
The ideal candidate combines deep business analysis expertise with strong data analysis capabilities and possesses a thorough understanding of Asset/Wealth Management business processes, client journeys, investment products, and data-driven decision-making.
Job Description
The individual will lead business discovery, requirement gathering, data analysis, process flow analysis and product delivery activities while ensuring alignment with business objectives, data governance standards, and product roadmaps. Success in this role requires a combination of strong business analysis expertise, hands-on data analysis capabilities, stakeholder management skills, and deep understanding of financial products.
This position serves as a critical contributor within Data & Analytics Office and successful BAs in this team are expected to grow into Data Product Managers/Owners. Prior experience delivering data products in premier financial institution and academic qualifications from institutions such as IIT or IIM.
Roles/Responsibilities
- Lead discovery workshops with business stakeholders and data consumers to understand strategic objectives, operational challenges, and data requirements.
- Elicit, analyze, document, and prioritize business requirements for enterprise data products.
- Translate business needs into detailed functional requirements, user stories, business rules, and acceptance criteria.
- Facilitate alignment between Business teams, Product Owners, Data Role holders, Data Scientists, Engineering teams & Architecture to deliver reusable, AI-ready data products.
- Challenge assumptions and identify opportunities for process simplification, automation, and data-driven decision-making.
- Support data vision and roadmap development through business insights and stakeholder engagement across Wealth Mgmt, Asset Mgmt & Asset Servicing BUs as well as enterprise functions like Risk, Procurement, Finance & Compliance etc.
- Work with technology delivery teams to share problem statement/business opportunity, desired outcomes and the functional & non-functional requirements for data products. Actively participate in user acceptance testing and sign-off for go live.
- Perform detailed analysis of complex datasets to identify trends, anomalies, business opportunities, and data quality issues.
- Analyze source-to-target data flows across multiple systems.
- Develop data mappings, transformation logic, business rules, and metric definitions.
- Support creation of semantic models, business glossaries, KPI definitions, and data product documentation.
- Partner with Data Owners and Data Stewards to define business terms, rules, and quality expectations.
- Support data lineage, metadata, and governance initiatives. Validate data quality, completeness, and accuracy against business expectations & ensure compliance with policies.
- Drive root-cause analysis for data discrepancies and production issues.
Knowledge / Skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills are required
- Extensive exposure of building, owning and operating data products in Financial Services context, including bridging the gap between technology change delivery function and actual business users.
- In-depth data governance & data management knowledge is required
- Highly flexible and adaptable to change
- Strong hands-on SQL expertise is must
- Experience with modern data and analytics platform such as Databricks and Snowflake is highly desirable
- Hands-on experience in semantic modeling is a strong advantage, including the ability to define business-friendly metrics, dimensions, and semantic layers that enable consistent reporting, self-service analytics, and AI-driven data consumption
- Ability to work in a fast pace, dynamic environment with limited direction
- Applies understanding of the business and how own area integrates with others to achieve departmental objectives
- Guides and influences others either internally or externally to adopt a different point of view
- Experience on using AI-tools is a big plus.
Experience
- Graduate from IIT/IIM or Tier 1 institutes along with 6-10 years of professional experience, including a minimum of 6 years of hands-on experience in business/data analysis is required.
- Strong industry / client /business exposure in at least one of Investment/Asset Management, Capital Markets, Investment Banking or Wealth Management industries is a must.
