Business Manager - Upper North Island

Upper North Island ManagementMid · 5-10 yearsH1B likely

About this role

  • Leadership role – flexible working

  • Competitive salary, including health and life insurance

  • Supportive and collaborative team

Work alongside Farm Managers to strengthen performance, capability, and potential across seven Pāmu Northland Livestock Farms.

THE OPPORTUNITY

If you’re ready for the next step in your agriculture leadership career - one where you’ll work alongside great people to grow capability, strengthen performance, and make a real impact across multiple farms - this is your chance.

As a Pāmu Business Manager, you’ll lead seven farms in the beautiful Northland region. Together, these farms collectively run between 100,000 to 120,000 stock units, forming an important part of Pāmu’s livestock business.

You’ll be part of a close-knit, high-trust leadership team that collaborates to share insights, solve challenges, and deliver meaningful results across the region. This is a supportive team that shares knowledge, backs each other, and is focused on lifting performance in a practical and sustainable way.

Your core focus will be partnering with your Farm Managers - supporting, guiding, and working alongside them to lift performance, build confidence, and achieve strong outcomes in both on-farm performance and financial results. You’ll review farm performance together with your teams, identify opportunities to strengthen profitability, improve systems, and enhance environmental outcomes, while ensuring Pāmu’s strategy and values are brought to life in day-to-day operations.

You’ll spend time out on-farm, working closely with farm managers and their teams to develop capability, drive operational consistency, and celebrate success. You’ll also influence strategic decisions, from capital investment to long-term system design. With flexibility to manage your own calendar and a manager who leads with trust and transparency, you’ll have the freedom and support to make a real impact.

Based in the Northland, you’ll enjoy the best of both worlds, a welcoming rural community, strong farming networks, and some of New Zealand’s most beautiful coastal and natural landscapes close by. From beaches and forests to fishing, walking tracks, and local townships, Northland offers an incredible lifestyle balance for those who enjoy the outdoors, community connection, and family life. You’ll also stay well connected to a supportive professional network across the wider Pāmu team, with regular collaboration, shared knowledge, and strong regional support.

This is an opportunity to bring together your passion for farming, people, and performance, helping Pāmu lead the way in sustainable, profitable, and future-focused farming across Aotearoa.

ABOUT YOU

You’re an experienced farming leader who thrives on working with people to achieve great results. You know what it’s like to run a farm, so you bring empathy, practical know-how, and a genuine desire to help your Farm Managers and their teams succeed.  You’re the kind of leader who builds confidence in others and takes pride in shared success.

You enjoy getting out on-farm, seeing the results of good management firsthand, and having clear, constructive conversations that lift performance and build confidence. You think strategically but act pragmatically, translating goals into actions that improve profitability, efficiency, and environmental outcomes.

You don’t need to meet every point to be considered. If you have strong farming leadership experience, a people-focused approach, and the confidence to keep learning, we’d encourage you to apply.

Some of the experience that would help you succeed includes:

  • Coaching and mentoring skills - you enjoy developing others and seeing them grow.

  • Proven leadership experience across livestock or pastoral farming operations.

  • A track record of driving farm performance through financial and operational management.

  • Commercial acumen and confidence working with budgets, forecasts, and cashflows.

  • The ability to have clear, constructive conversations that build trust, confidence, and shared accountability.

  • A growth mindset - comfortable with data, technology, and new ideas.

  • Initiative, adaptability, and the ability to manage your own time and priorities.
