Business Project Manager, UK Executive Office

The Role

The Executive Office Business Project Manager is a highly visible role within the UK Executive Office, providing Chief of Staff, business management, and strategic delivery support across the UK Personal Investor (UKPI) and Financial Advisor Services (FAS) businesses.

Acting as a trusted partner to senior leaders, the role ensures the effective day-to-day operation of the business through strong governance, operating cadence, financial oversight, management information, and cross-functional coordination. The position serves as a central point of integration across business priorities, enabling leadership teams to focus on strategic decision-making while ensuring commitments are translated into action and delivered effectively.

The role combines business management disciplines with project and programme delivery expertise, driving accountability, transparency, and execution excellence across key business initiatives.

In this role you will

Core Responsibilities

Business Management & Operational Leadership

  • Ensure the business operates effectively day-to-day through strong operational discipline, governance, and coordination.

  • Act as a trusted partner to FAS and UKPI leadership teams, supporting the delivery of strategic and operational priorities.

  • Maintain visibility of business performance, risks, dependencies, and execution progress.

  • Proactively identify issues, bottlenecks, and emerging risks, driving timely resolution and escalation where appropriate.

  • Support the translation of strategic priorities into actionable business plans and measurable outcomes.

Leadership Cadence & Governance

  • Own and continuously improve the operating rhythm across UKPI Leadership Team (UKPILT), FAS Leadership Team (FASLT), monthly business review processes, and additional leadership or governance forums as required.

  • Coordinate agendas, pre-reads, briefing materials, presentations, and decision papers.

  • Track actions, decisions, risks, and commitments arising from leadership forums.

  • Ensure timely follow-up and accountability for agreed outcomes.

  • Support effective executive decision-making through high-quality governance and insight.

Strategic Delivery & Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Lead and coordinate strategic initiatives and business change activities impacting UKPI and FAS.

  • Manage cross-functional dependencies across business, technology, operations, risk, legal, compliance, finance, and enterprise teams.

  • Establish appropriate governance, reporting, milestones, and escalation processes for strategic initiatives.

  • Monitor progress against priorities and escalate delivery risks where required.

  • Support planning and execution of key business transformation activities.

Management Information & Business Performance Reporting

  • Develop and maintain management information, dashboards, scorecards, and executive reporting.

  • Produce regular business performance reporting, insights, and leadership updates.

  • Consolidate information from multiple sources into concise executive-level communications.

  • Monitor progress against business goals, strategic priorities, and operational metrics.

  • Drive continuous improvement in reporting quality, efficiency, and data integrity.

Stakeholder Management & Communications

  • Build strong relationships across UKPI, FAS, Europe, and enterprise functions.

  • Facilitate collaboration and alignment across multiple teams and stakeholders.

  • Serve as a central coordination point for business activity, communications, and strategic initiatives.

  • Support preparation of executive materials, presentations, leadership communications, and business updates.

  • Influence outcomes across a matrixed environment without direct authority.

What it takes

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

  • Significant experience in business management, programme management, project management, strategy execution, consulting, chief of staff, or operational leadership roles.

  • Experience supporting senior leadership teams and executive governance forums.

  • Strong project and programme management capability, including management of complex cross-functional initiatives.

  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders and competing priorities in a matrix environment.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-support skills.

  • Excellent written, verbal, and executive communication skills.

  • Experience within financial services, investment management, wealth management, or retail investing preferred.

  • PMO, PMP, PRINCE2, Agile, or equivalent qualifications desirable.

Special Factors 

  • Vanguard is not offering visa sponsorship for this position

  • This is a hybrid position and would require you to work in the office 3 days per week (Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday)
