Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate the architectural autofocus design and algorithms for digital photography, tune the autofocus algorithm, support Pixel phone development, and contribute to raising the bar of quality and innovation with Pixel cameras.
  • Partner with stakeholders to refine and improve autofocus algorithms.
  • Communicate results and implications to a cross-functional team, and work cross-functionally to optimize the performance under hardware constraints(VCM, lens, sensor, OIS, TOF) constraints.
  • Design and produce subjective and objective laboratory tests and fielded test methods to analyze problems, experiment with image quality, behavior and performance.
  • Work with the System on a Chip (SoC) architecture and algorithm teams to understand and improve architecture and use cases.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or a specialized field (e.g., Optics, Sensors, Audio/DSP, etc.), or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience working in image processing, image quality evaluation, camera tuning or other camera technical environments, or an advanced degree.
  • Experience programming in C, C++, or Python.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Experience developing and integrating new autofocus (AF) hardware components in consumer products, as well as autofocus algorithm tuning and optimization.
  • Experience with sensor characteristics, optics, and image signal processing in mobile imaging systems, and their influence on final image and video quality.
  • Experience in performance validation for Laser Detection Autofocus (LDAF) and Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) modules.
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Passion for photography technology.
