About this role

Care Support Apprenticeship at Portfolio Homecare Ltd  

We are seeking a caring care worker visiting clients in their own home, to provide personal care, companionship, light domestic work, shopping, transfers, medication administration.

 

Apprenticeship Overview:

  • Salary: £8.00 an hour, Automatic pay increase after one year on programme for 19+ year olds
  • Working Week: Monday to Sunday between 7am – 2pm (one weekend or alternative weekend per month) (30 minutes lunch break)
  • Hours:30 hours per week
  • Duration: 18 months
  • Level 2 Adult Care Worker Apprenticeship Standard qualification
  • Online training supported by our dedicated tutor
  • Location: Unit 6, Parkside Business Centre, Plumpton Road, Hoddesdon, Hertfordshire, EN11 0ES

 

Care Support Apprentice – Key Responsibilities

As a Care Support Apprentice, you will learn how to provide high-quality care and support to people in their own homes while developing valuable skills and experience.


You will:

  • Support individuals with their daily routines while promoting independence, dignity, and respect.
  • Read and understand care plans, risk assessments, and guidance to provide safe and personalised support.
  • Help with personal care, including washing, dressing, grooming, and supporting with toileting where required.
  • Support with mobility, moving and handling, and safely using equipment.
  • Prepare meals and drinks, and support individuals with eating and drinking.
  • Support with medication in line with training, care plans, and company procedures.
  • Complete accurate care records using digital systems and report any changes or concerns.
  • Provide companionship, conversation, and social support to help reduce isolation.
  • Support with light household tasks such as laundry, shopping, and maintaining a safe environment.
  • Work closely with colleagues, families, and healthcare professionals to provide the best possible care.
  • Follow company policies, procedures, and confidentiality requirements at all times.
  • Attend training sessions, team meetings, supervisions, and reviews to continue developing your skills.
  • Wear the correct uniform and represent the organisation professionally.
  • Ensure personal transport requirements are met if driving between visits.

Desired qualifications

  • Some experience in some form of caring role
  • Driving licence and a car would be an advantage
  • GCSE English (Grade A*-C/9-4 or Level 2 equivalent) Desirable
  • GCSE Maths (Grade A*-C/9-4 or Level 2 equivalent) Desirable

Potential full-time employment for the right candidate upon successful completion of the apprenticeship. 

 

Pre-employment checks.
