Job Summary

Church & Dwight is seeking a Chemist to join our team. The role will support the Fabric Care Research and Development activities with development of new formulations and product improvements in addition to other R&D work.

About the Role

The Chemist will be under the supervision of an R&D Manager in a manner consistent with Church & Dwight's R&D Core Principles of teamwork, consumer and customer focus, personal responsibility and integrity, and ethical behavior and practices.

Work Environment

Onsite: This is an onsite role based in Princeton, NJ and requires in-person attendance on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. 

Role Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • Design and execute laboratory experiments to develop new products, formulations, and product improvements.

  • Plan, conduct, and analyze studies to evaluate product performance against defined project objectives.

  • Accurately record, interpret, and communicate experimental results; draw conclusions and recommend next steps.

  • Prepare technical reports, project updates, and presentations to communicate findings to cross-functional stakeholders.

  • Identify opportunities to improve product performance, quality, and manufacturability.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Product Development, Manufacturing, Quality, Regulatory, Consumer Experience, and Packaging.

  • Evaluate new technologies, ingredients, and methodologies for potential application in product development.

  • Support product qualification, scale-up, and technical transfer activities as projects progress toward commercialization.

  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting timelines and business objectives.

  • Provide technical guidance to laboratory technicians, interns, or junior team members as needed.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Knowledge of formulation science, consumer products, or related technologies preferred.

  • Experience with data analysis, interpretation, and technical documentation.

  • Understanding scientific principles and product development processes.

  • Strong laboratory techniques, experimental design, and troubleshooting abilities.

  • Ability to maintain accurate laboratory records and ensure data integrity.

Education and Experience

Required Qualifications:

  • Must have a BS degree from an accredited institution in Chemistry or a related discipline.

  • 2+years of laboratory experience.

Preferred experience:

  • Microsoft Office Suite.

Compensation and Benefits 

The U.S. base salary range for this full-time position is $71,000– $101,100. This position is also eligible for a bonus.

The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, job-related knowledge/skills, experience, business needs, geographical location, and internal pay parity.  Compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate.
