About this role

Sinclair is Hiring! Join Our Team as Chief Financial Officer

Location: Subject to Candidate’s location, Shanghai is preferred but not mandatory

Scope: Global – operations across more than 27 countries

Role Purpose

The Chief Financial Officer will lead the global finance function of a privately owned, medium-sized international medical aesthetics company.

We are seeking a highly commercial, hands-on finance leader with a proven record of rebuilding finance functions, delivering radical change and turning around underperforming international businesses.

The CFO will provide strategic financial leadership while remaining close to operational detail, including cash, working capital, controls, forecasting, profitability and business performance. The role will build a stronger, simpler and more accountable finance organisation capable of supporting sustainable growth.

Key Responsibilities

Business Turnaround and Transformation

• Lead the financial turnaround and transformation of the business.

• Rapidly identify structural, operational and financial weaknesses and translate them into a practical action plan.

• Challenge legacy practices, simplify the operating model and improve organisational accountability.

• Deliver measurable improvements in cash generation, profitability, working capital and cost efficiency.

• Support restructuring, market-entry and exit decisions, distributor transitions and changes to business models.

• Establish robust tracking of transformation benefits and ensure committed savings are delivered.

Commercial and Strategic Finance

• Act as a trusted commercial partner to the Chairman/ CEO, COO and senior leadership team.

• Translate financial information into clear commercial decisions and actions.

• Provide rigorous analysis of product, customer, country, channel and market profitability.

• Strengthen pricing, margin management, investment appraisal and portfolio prioritisation.

• Support growth across direct markets, distributor markets, manufacturing operations and new-product launches.

• Provide robust financial challenge to commercial forecasts, business cases and investment proposals.

Financial Performance and Cash Management

• Take direct ownership of budgeting, forecasting, cash flow and financial performance.

• Introduce accurate, timely and decision-focused management reporting.

• Improve forecast reliability and strengthen financial discipline across all countries and functions.

• Drive working-capital improvement, particularly inventory, receivables, payables and DSO.

• Maintain tight control over liquidity, banking, treasury, foreign-exchange exposure and funding requirements.

• Ensure financial risks are identified and addressed at an early stage.

Finance Function Rebuild

• Assess and redesign the global finance organisation, including capabilities, roles, reporting lines and location strategy.

• Build an effective operating model across group finance, regional and country finance, manufacturing finance and shared services.

• Recruit, develop and retain a high-performing finance leadership team.

• Clarify decision rights, accountability and service expectations across the function.

• Develop finance professionals who actively support and challenge the business, rather than simply report historical information.

• Remain willing and able to work directly with financial detail when required, without relying solely on large teams or external advisers.

Governance, Controls and Compliance

• Strengthen financial governance, internal controls and delegated authorities across more than 27 countries.

• Establish consistent controls over payments, banking, procurement, expenses, credit cards and contractual commitments.

• Ensure accurate statutory reporting, tax compliance, audit completion and regulatory filings across all legal entities.

• Maintain appropriate oversight of transfer pricing, intercompany arrangements and international tax risks.

• Improve financial data integrity and establish clear ownership of balance-sheet reconciliations.

• Work closely with Legal, Compliance, Quality, Regulatory Affairs and external advisers within a regulated medical-device environment.

Manufacturing and Supply Chain Finance

• Provide strong financial leadership to manufacturing sites and the global supply chain.

• Improve understanding of product costs, manufacturing variances, capacity utilisation and inventory exposure.

• Challenge production planning, procurement expenditure, waste, obsolescence and capital investment.

• Support make-versus-buy decisions, supplier negotiations and manufacturing-footprint optimisation.

• Establish effective financial controls over inventory across plants, warehouses, subsidiaries and distributors.

Systems and Data

• Lead the improvement and simplification of finance systems, reporting and data.

• Address fragmented processes, inconsistent master data and excessive manual work.

• Sponsor ERP, consolidation, planning and management-information improvements where required.

• Establish one reliable version of financial performance across the organisation.

• Ensure systems investments deliver practical operational and control benefits.

Stakeholder Leadership

• Present clear, concise and decision-focused financial information to the Board, shareholders and executive leadership.

• Build credibility with the Company’s shareholder and maintain strong communication on performance, risks and priorities.

• Work effectively across different countries, cultures and levels of financial maturity.

• Lead difficult conversations, make timely decisions and hold senior leaders accountable for financial commitments.

• Support financing, acquisitions, disposals, partnerships and other strategic transactions when required.

Candidate Profile

Essential Experience

• Substantial experience as a CFO, divisional CFO or senior international finance leader within a medium-sized, complex multinational business.

• Demonstrable success in business turnaround, finance-function rebuild or major transformation—not merely participation in such programmes.

• A track record of delivering radical change with measurable improvements in cash, profitability, controls and organisational effectiveness.

• Strong operational exposure to manufacturing, supply chain, inventory and working capital.

• Experience overseeing multiple countries, legal entities, currencies and business models.

• Proven ability to operate across both direct-sales and distributor-led markets.

• Strong understanding of financial controls, treasury, tax, audit and statutory reporting.

• Experience working with private shareholders, private equity or an entrepreneurial ownership structure would be highly valuable.

• Experience in medical aesthetics, medical devices, pharmaceuticals, healthcare or another regulated international sector is strongly preferred.

• A recognised professional accounting qualification, such as ACA, ACCA, CIMA or an equivalent international qualification.

• Fluency in English is essential.

Preferred Experience

• Mandarin Chinese language capability is preferred, given the importance of effective communication and collaboration with the Company’s shareholder and China-based stakeholders.

• Previous experience working with Chinese shareholders, parent companies or business partners would be advantageous.

• Experience leading an ERP, finance-systems or data-transformation programme.

• Exposure to acquisitions, integrations, disposals or business-model transitions.

Leadership Characteristics

• Genuinely hands-on, practical and comfortable working at both strategic and transactional levels.

• Commercially sharp, with a strong understanding of the drivers of revenue, margin and cash.

• Decisive, resilient and willing to challenge established practices.

• Able to move quickly without compromising financial control or accuracy.

• Comfortable entering an imperfect environment and creating clarity, structure and discipline.

• Low ego, highly accountable and focused on delivery rather than corporate presentation.

• Able to simplify complex issues and communicate them clearly to non-financial leaders.

• Strong enough to challenge senior executives constructively and hold the organisation to its commitments.

• Culturally adaptable and effective across a geographically dispersed organisation.

• Motivated by rebuilding and improving a business rather than maintaining an already mature finance function.
