About the team

The Specialist II, Systems Programming designs, implements, and supports scalable, reliable, and automated infrastructure and platform services that power Zillow’s applications and services. In this role, you apply seasoned systems engineering skills to build and operate cloud-native environments, improve observability and reliability, and partner with product and engineering teams to deliver secure, performant solutions that support Zillow’s mission.

About the role

- Architect, implement, and maintain cloud-based systems and services that prioritize scalability, reliability, performance, and security. - Design, automate, and improve infrastructure provisioning, configuration, and deployment pipelines using infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD practices. - Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve moderately complex production incidents across services and environments, driving short- and long-term corrective actions. - Collaborate with software engineering, security, and product teams to design system architectures, define operational requirements, and ensure smooth integrations. - Develop and enhance observability, logging, and alerting capabilities to improve system visibility, incident response, and service-level adherence. - Implement and refine operational runbooks, standards, and best practices that enhance reliability, reduce toil, and support consistent system operations. - Participate in an on-call rotation and post-incident reviews, contributing to continuous improvement of system resilience and operational processes.

This role has been categorized as an Office position. “Office” employees regularly work at the Zillow India office for approximately 80 to 100 percent of their time each month. Employees must live within a reasonable commuting distance of the office. Zillow has not defined a reasonable distance, and expects employees will use judgment in determining this for themselves and understand the implications re: time commitment and cost of daily commute.

In addition to a competitive base pay, employees in this role are eligible for incentive compensation subject to applicable laws and relevant Zillow policies. Actual amounts will vary depending on experience, performance and location.

Who you are

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field. - 5+ years of experience in systems engineering, site reliability engineering, DevOps, or a closely related systems programming role supporting production environments. - Experience designing, deploying, and operating services on a major cloud platform (such as AWS, GCP, or Azure). - Experience with scripting or programming (for example, Python, Shell, Go, or Java) to automate systems tasks and workflows. - Experience working with containerization and orchestration, infrastructure-as-code, and CI/CD tools in a modern engineering environment. - Experience diagnosing and resolving production issues using observability tools (such as metrics, logs, and traces) and structured incident response. Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
