Climate Advisor

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Head of Climate, we’re looking for an experienced Climate Advisor to play a key role in advancing APA’s climate ambitions. This is an opportunity to work at the centre of APA’s climate agenda, partnering with stakeholders across the business to help shape decisions, influence outcomes, and support our transition journey.

You will help to deliver our Scope 3 goals, establish assured Scope 3 emissions inventories and support the implementation of APA’s Climate Transition Plan (CTP). You will also lead periodic reviews of climate related governance and policy documents and provide trusted advice across a range of climate matters. Working across the business, you will play an important role in embedding climate considerations into decision making and supporting APA’s transition journey.

This role can be based in Melbourne, Sydney or Brisbane and is a 12 month Maximum Term contract.

Key Responsibilities

• Partner with stakeholders across APA to support delivery of our Scope 3 goals.
• Lead the development and continuous improvement of APA's assured Scope 3 emissions inventory, ensuring readiness for internal and external assurance requirements.
• Drive monitoring and reporting of APA’s Climate Transition Plan implementation.
• Provide practical and trusted climate advice to support business growth, strategic decision making and climate related due diligence across a diverse range of projects and initiatives.
• Monitor emerging climate related regulation, reporting requirements and market developments, helping APA remain prepared for a changing external environment.
• Help embed climate considerations across the business by reviewing, maintaining and enhancing climate related procedures, standards and frameworks to ensure they remain effective and fit for purpose.
• Lead the coordination and disclosure of APA’s annual avoided emissions metrics, contributing to a clear and meaningful narrative around our climate impact and progress.

Your background

• You will have experience delivering greenhouse gas emissions reporting, with a strong understanding of Scope 3 emissions accounting and assurance requirements.
• You will bring experience within the energy, infrastructure, resources, consulting or broader sustainability sectors, with an understanding of the opportunities and challenges associated with the energy transition.
• You will come with a proven ability to coordinate complex programs or initiatives, ideally supporting the delivery of climate, sustainability or decarbonisation strategies.
• You will have the confidence to provide practical and well informed advice on a range of climate related topics.
• You will be a collaborative and influential stakeholder manager who enjoys building trusted relationships and partnering with teams across the business to achieve shared outcomes.
• You will bring 3+ years' experience in climate, sustainability or emissions management, with demonstrated success delivering climate initiatives and engaging stakeholders across complex organisations.
