CNC Grinder

Working within a highly skilled manufacturing team, you will contribute to continuous improvement initiatives while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality and operational excellence.

The Role

• Set and operate CNC and manual cylindrical and surface grinding machines.

• Manufacture precision crankshafts, camshafts and other engine components in accordance with engineering drawings and specifications.

• Produce components efficiently while maintaining the highest standards of quality and accuracy.

• Carry out in-process and final inspection using precision measuring equipment, including gauges, Perthometer and Adcole systems.

• Read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications and manufacturing documentation.

• Set up work holding, mount and dress grinding wheels to achieve optimum machining performance.

• Identify, report and resolve machining or production issues in a timely manner.

• Work collaboratively with colleagues across Manufacturing, Quality and Engineering to achieve production objectives.

• Contribute to continuous improvement activities by identifying opportunities to improve manufacturing methods, tooling and processes.

• Maintain high standards of housekeeping and ensure all work is completed safely and in accordance with company procedures.

• Consider the health, safety, environmental and energy impacts of all activities.

• Experience setting and operating CNC and/or manual grinding machines.

• Experience within precision engineering, automotive, aerospace, motorsport or a similarly regulated manufacturing environment.

• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.

• Strong understanding of precision machining techniques and quality standards.

• Excellent problem-solving skills with a methodical approach to fault finding.

• Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.

Desirable

• Experience operating Junker and/or Kellenberg grinding machines.

• Experience of cylindrical and surface grinding.

• Knowledge of work holding methods, wheel mounting and wheel dressing.

• Experience using precision inspection equipment, including Adcole and Perthometer measuring systems.

• A positive and proactive approach to problem solving.

• High levels of accuracy and attention to detail.

• A flexible attitude and willingness to support the wider manufacturing team.
