About this role
CNC Machinist Lead Location: Spring, TX 77373 Pay: $30-$40/ hour DOE Shift: 5pm to 3:30 or 5:30am M-F with some over time on Saturdays 5pm-3:30am *Shift times can vary depending on production schedule *Will train on days for 1 week
Seeking lead CNC machinist for a manufacturing and stocking distributor for all sizes of SAE, ASTM and ISO fasteners including bolts, double tap, tap end and all thread fasteners in a variety of grades, alloys and coatings. Facility also provides extensive in-house machining capabilities for fasteners in a variety of standard and exotic materials specific to customer drawings and specifications. In-house plating and coating services are offered for corrosion prevention; including zinc electroplating and Fluoropolymer coating systems.
This position is responsible to help ensure the safety and productivity of all employees assigned to the CNC department. Additionally, the CNC Lead position is accountable for filling in when the CNC supervisor or Programmer is not available. Manufacturing employees must comply with company Safety and Security policies including use of Personal Protective Equipment
Coordinates with Supervisor and Programmer to ensure jobs are setup and running
Reads blueprint or job order for product and job specifications such as dimensions, tolerances, number of parts to be run, tooling instructions or other written specifications
Sets up machine, observes operation, and inspects first run and sample work pieces to ensure machining conforms to specifications
Helps other machinist perform and trouble shoot setups and insure they are running efficiently
Processes First Article Inspections and verifies conformance to quality standards prior to production runs
Accurately completes work order paperwork/documentation
Ensure that work areas are maintained in a neat and orderly manner at all times.
Assist in training new hire personnel in setup procedures, measurement equipment, production expectations and specifications.
Operate equipment/machines as needed
Assist Production Supervisors in daily activities
Lead shift with minimal to no supervision required
Recognize and identify problem areas and assist with developing solutions
Issue and release work orders
Assist production supervisors in daily activities while setting the example for all other employees
Leads and directs all aspects of the CNC department when supervisor is unavailable
Comply with all company policies and procedures including Health, Safety and Quality Assurance policies.
Report injuries, accidents, near misses or unsafe conditions to a Supervisor or Manager immediately.
Perform other and/or related duties as assigned or as the situation dictates.
Experience
2-5 years related supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment
5 years’ experience in basic programming, editing, setup and operation of CNC machines for precision parts with experience on Doosan, Okuma or Swiss machines with Fanuc controls
able to setup and edit the G-Code for each part, as well as edit the program, check parts, deburr parts, perform offsets, etc.
Mastercam and/or Solidworks experience a plus
Requirements
High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED); Associate or Bachelor degree in a technical discipline preferred
Ability to pass a basic reading, math, measurement, parts matching and counting test
Able to read, understand, interpret and follow detailed work instructions and manufacturing specifications
Ability to adjust to changes without compromising Quality or Performance
Must be able to work a shift schedule and overtime as needed, including weekends
Must be able to stand for the duration of scheduled shift
Ability to manually load or unload materials onto or off pallets, skids, platforms up to weighing 25-150 lbs
Specific vision abilities required by this job include Close vision, Distance vision, Peripheral vision, Depth perception and Ability to adjust focus
Manual dexterity using hands, fingers, and arms to push, pull, reach, grab, hold, lift, and hammer
Manufacturing and warehouse environment with multi step process production runs on different machines. High value highly customized components, long and large parts, and high precision manufacturing for critical service applications
Must pass background and drug screen
Must have ASTM F2413 compliant protective footwear with a minimum height of 6 inches, low heal, and slip resistant soles.
Must have ASTM 2413 metatarsal guards and safety glasses
