Location: Import Farm, Spavinaw, Ok 

Schedule: Monday through Friday, occasional call-ins due to equipment breakdowns 

Hours:     7:00 am - 3:00 p    Work schedule is subject to change based upon production needs.  

 

Applicants with previous agricultural or production experience will be considered preferred.  Applicant must have at least six consecutive months of work experience with the same employer and no additional gaps in employment greater than six months with the last 36 months.  If applicant was laid-off, providing eldercare or childcare, the six month gap will be increased to 18 months.  Previous work history criteria will not apply to applicants who have been full time students consecutively for the last 36 months.

Position Summary: 

  • This position is responsible for maintaining and repairing physical structures of building and equipment, maintaining grounds and roads Maintaining vehicles in the farm fleet Helps with movement of chicks from commercial hatchery to farm and with the transprotation of eggs to and from commercial hatcheries.   Other duties may be assigned.   

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Preventive maintenance program for all farm vehicles and farm equipment. Performs generator test runs each week. House PM’s prior to flock placements. Reports  machinery defects or malfunctions to management. Coordinates major repairs with external vendors & drives to pick up parts and supplies. (50%) 

  • Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments; repairs or replaces defective parts; reports machinery defects or malfunctions to management Weekly check of propane levels and water usage. Monitor formaldehyde levels (20%) 

  • Assist with monthly safety meetings and oversees completion of the items listed in the quarterly safety report Monthly fire extinguisher/emergency lighting checks Performs purchasing tasks as assigned (Creating/Receiving PO’s) processing purchases in  Control Pay System, assits  complex manager with Capital Construction Projects)  (10%) 

  • Connects electrical wiring and cables; installs lighting fixtures, outlets, switches, wall boxes, and terminal boards (10%) 

  • Respirator certification is required and maintained by testing on an annual basis. Must be able to achieve and maintain a respirator certification: TM’s must remain clean shaven during all scheduled work hours.

Biosecurity/Animal Welfare/Safety Requirements: 

  • The jobsite is a biosecure environment which requires showering and changing clothing and footwear before entering the facility Appropriate clothing and footwear is provided by the Company No jewelry may be worn on the jobsite except for medical ID jewelry and body piercings covered by appropriate clothing Must be willing to sign an agreement to avoid any avian species (chickens, ducks, birds, etc.). Must be willing to sign and abide by the Company Biosecurity and Company Animal Welfare Guidelines.  

 

Physical Demands and Work Environment: 

  • Physical:  Must use safe lifting techniques Must regularly lift and/or move, up to 50 pounds to move items such as partitions, nests, tools, etc.   May  be requied to occasionally lift up to 100 punds. May be required to occasionally move up to 2000 pounds such as skids of supplies, shavings, slats, etc.   Must regulary push or pull up to 500 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk majority of shift on multiple surfaces; sit; use hands to handle or feel objects and controls; reach with hands and arms; balance; climbing/ladder usage; talk or hear; stoop/bend up to 1000 times per day; drive a vehicle within the farm complex and outside Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision; distance vision; color vision; peripheral vision; depth perception; and the ability to adjust focus. 

  • Tools and Equipment:Requires use of hand tools such as hammers, wrenches, screw drivers, shovel, etc.; power tools such as drill, sawsall, table saw, etc.; equipment such as cutting torch, welder, vehicle jack, tractor/loader, dump truck, skid-steer, tractor, trailer with gas-powered sprayer, pallet jack, lawn mover and weedeater, catch frames, scales, etc.; and safe operation of vehicle to and from work area. 

  • Environment:  Required to work on wet, slippery surfaces and also work in hot, dry, extreme dusty, dark, wet, icy, snowy and cold environments.   

  • Personal Protective Equipment Required Safety glasses, Safety goggles, face shield, chemical gloves, waterproof aprons, rain suits and company issued footwear are required Ear plugs and safety glasses will be used as required.   NIOSH approved N95 particulate respirators will be worn as needed.  A respirator is required for formaldehyde application.  Fall protection harnesses are required when on top of the feed truck. 

  • Chemicals Commonly Used:  Disinfectants such as Synergize, Virocid.   Lysol, bleach,Clorox wipes, parts cleaners,  lubricants, oil, brake fluid,  hand sanitizer, Green Clean, etc. 

  • TM is expected to follow all applicable safety policies and procedures. These include but are not limited to Hazard Communication, Respiratory Protection, LOTO and Personal Protective Equipment.  TM is expected to identify, address and mitigate safety related risks.
