Townsville University Hospital is seeking a Staff Specialist (Consultant Psychiatrist) to join its highly regarded Adult Mental Health Service. About the Role
As a Consultant Psychiatrist within the Adult Mental Health Service, you will provide expert clinical leadership and specialist psychiatric care across a range of community and inpatient settings. Working alongside experienced multidisciplinary teams, you will deliver evidence-based, recovery-focused care while contributing to service innovation, education and research.
Opportunities are available within Adult Community Mental Health Teams as well as Holiday Relief positions, offering variety and exposure to a broad range of clinical services.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver specialist psychiatric assessment, diagnosis and treatment for adult patients.
- Provide clinical leadership within a multidisciplinary team.
- Support recovery-oriented and patient-centred models of care.
- Participate in teaching, supervision and mentoring of junior medical staff and trainees.
- Contribute to quality improvement, service development and research initiatives.
About You
To be successful, you will have:
- Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP), or equivalent specialist qualifications recognised by the College.
- Specialist registration, or eligibility for specialist registration, with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA).
- Experience or a strong interest in Adult Psychiatry.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- A collaborative approach and commitment to delivering high-quality mental health care.
