Role Synopsis

The Corporate Land GIS Analyst maintains accurate spatial records for company land agreements in an ESRI-based environment. This role converts land records, agreement data, legal descriptions, plats, and related source information into reliable GIS polygons used for planning, development, due diligence, compliance, and business decision-making.

The position requires foundational GIS mapping skills, careful data validation, and a technology-forward mindset. The analyst will receive opportunities to expand technical capability in GIS applications, automation, data integration, and approved AI tools while supporting Land Compliance workflows.

Key Accountabilities

GIS Mapping and Data Management

  • Create, edit, validate, and maintain GIS polygons for leases, units, easements, rights-of-way, surface agreements, and other land-related assets.
  • Interpret legal descriptions, plats, tract information, and land records to support accurate spatial mapping.
  • Maintain GIS features, attributes, metadata, and related records in the company’s ArcGIS environment.
  • Perform QA/QC between mapped features, land systems, acreage records, and supporting documents.
  • Support recurring data reconciliation and quality-control processes.

Technology Support

  • Develop and maintain GIS applications, dashboards, and web-based solutions that support Land Compliance workflows.
  • Design, build, and support FME Form and FME Flow workflows for data integration, validation, automation, and reporting.
  • Develop and maintain ArcGIS Experience Builder applications and ArcGIS Dashboards.
  • Publish and maintain GIS services, web maps, and ArcGIS Pro projects used across the business.
  • Partner with Land, GIS, and Technology teams to identify opportunities for process improvement and innovation.
  • Use approved AI tools to improve research, documentation, QA/QC, workflow efficiency, and productivity.

Land Compliance Support

  • Provide limited support for agreement setup, data validation, obligation research, acreage analysis, reporting, and audit readiness as needed.

Essential Experience and Eduction

  • Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Geography, Geomatics, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • 3+ years of GIS experience supporting land, energy, real estate, infrastructure, or a related industry.
  • Experience with ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Experience or ArcGIS Online, and enterprise GIS environments.
  • Experience developing ArcGIS Experience Builder applications and ArcGIS Dashboards.
  • Experience developing and supporting FME Form and FME Flow workflows for automation, integration, QA/QC, and reporting.
  • Experience publishing and maintaining feature services, web maps, and related GIS content.
  • Ability to interpret land records, legal descriptions, plats, tract information, and related source documents.
  • Experience using approved AI tools, such as Microsoft Copilot or Claude, to improve workflow efficiency and productivity.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Desirable Criteria

  • Oil and gas land experience, including leases, units, easements, rights-of-way, acreage, ownership, or land administration.
  • Experience with Python, ArcPy, SQL, or similar scripting and query technologies.
  • Experience integrating GIS with land systems, reporting platforms, and enterprise databases.
  • Experience supporting enterprise GIS applications and business-process automation.

Compensation & Benefits

How much do we pay (Base)?

$87,000-$102,000

Note that the pay range listed for this position is a good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible base compensation at the time of posting.
