Student Accessibility Services:

Student Accessibility Services (SAS) works with 4,000+ students with disabilities every year to facilitate equal access and reasonable accommodations. SAS works closely with faculty, Housing, and other departments to ensure disabled students experience equal opportunity to the campus experience. SAS also explores ways in which the UCF experience can be proactively designed with disability access and inclusion considered from the outset so as to minimize the need for reactive accommodations. Overall, SAS' accessibility work spans most areas of campus with opportunities for various engagement and the ability to make a campus impact.

The Opportunity: 

UCF's Student Accessibility Services is seeking a creative Course Access Coordinator. The Course Access Coordinator plays a critical role in ensuring that blind, low vision, Deaf, and hard of hearing students have timely and meaningful access to their coursework at UCF.  This position provides support for course access and accommodation coordination, requiring dedicated and efficient responses through faculty consultations, document remediation, and other creative solutions to meet each student's individual access needs. This is a hands-on, relationship-centered role that sits at the intersection of student services, faculty partnership, and accessibility technology. Classification Title: Accessibility Services Coordinator

Responsibilities:

The Course Access Coordinator will be responsible for the following essential functions:

  • Work closely with blind and low vision students and faculty to address all necessary details required for course access, including, but not limited to, securing accessible documents, touring classroom and lab spaces, obtaining Braille and accessible video materials, among other needs.

  • Coordinate the provision of access resources with the SAS Assistant Director for Accessible Technology, the UCF Digital Accessibility Lab, the Center for Distributed Learning, and other UCF stakeholders and third-party vendors (including invoice management) actively involved in creating course access; develop and manage systems that address emerging accommodation needs in the classroom and proactive access measures that make courses more naturally accessible from the outset.

  • Support Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) administrative responsibilities, such as, but not limited to, DHH agency invoice management and captioning coordination for videos that need to be captioned within courses.

  • Support SAS in other areas, such as meeting with students to determine reasonable accommodations and consulting with faculty regarding general access and accommodation matters in the classroom.

  • Support SAS accommodated testing leading up to and during final exams, SAS tabling events, last-minute front desk coverage, and other initiatives that evolve over the course of the academic year.

Minimum Qualifications: 

Bachelor's and 2+ years of relevant experience or Master’s degree and 0+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219(6).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a disability services, accessibility services, or related student support office in a higher education, secondary education, non-profit entity or similar setting.

  • Knowledge of assistive technology tools and accessible document remediation practices (e.g., PDF remediation, Braille transcription, captioning workflows).

  • Experience coordinating accommodations or services for people with disabilities, especially individuals who are blind, have low vision, are Deaf, or are hard of hearing.

  • Experience managing vendor relationships, invoice processing, and managing detailed projects.

  • Strong relationship-building skills with the ability to work effectively with faculty, students, and cross-functional teams.

Special Instructions to the Applicants:

  • The anticipated hourly rate for this position is $20.29 - $21.55 ($42,367- $45,000 annually). The final hourly rate will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, and internal equity considerations.

  • All applicants must be authorized to work for any U.S. employer. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position, and the university cannot accommodate H‑1B transfers or employment-based visa processing for individuals currently sponsored by another employer.
