Declaration Officer

Our client, a leading company in the automotive industry, is seeking a Declaration Officer to manage customs declarations, bonds, and securities for their private bonded warehouse. The role ensures compliance with customs regulations, accurate documentation of imports, exports, and transit goods, and proper administration of bonds and guarantees to safeguard warehouse operations. The officer will coordinate closely with customs authorities, clearing agents, and internal teams to maintain operational efficiency and regulatory compliance. Responsibilities: Prepare and process customs declarations for bonded warehouse operations in compliance with regulatory requirements. Administer and monitor customs bonds, securities, and guarantees, ensuring timely renewals and proper usage. Verify invoices, permits, packing lists, and other supporting documents before submission to customs. Maintain accurate records of bonded stock, bond utilization, and outstanding liabilities. Liaise with customs authorities, clearing agents, and internal departments to resolve bond or declaration issues. Reconcile warehouse stock movements, duty suspensions, and bond releases to prevent non-compliance. Track updates in customs regulations and tariffs, advising management on compliance implications. Generate periodic reports on bonds status, securities, and compliance performance for internal review. Requirements East Africa Customs Freight Forwarding Practising Certificate (mandatory). Bachelor’s degree in Customs, Supply Chain, Logistics, or a related field. Minimum 2–4 years’ experience in customs declaration, bonded warehouse operations, or related roles. Strong understanding of customs laws, tariffs, and bonded warehouse procedures. Conversant with the TANESW system for customs declaration and documentation. Excellent analytical, documentation, and reporting skills. High integrity, attention to detail, and ability to work under pressure. Strong communication and coordination skills for interaction with customs authorities and internal stakeholders.
