About this role

Amentum is seeking a Deputy Airfield Manager for Creech Air Force Base to support the Airfield Manager in executing day‑to‑day Airfield Management (AM) operations in accordance with DAFMAN 13‑204V2. Assists in ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant airfield operations. Provides technical expertise and daily oversight of AM functions, including airfield inspections, airfield driving program administration, airfield construction coordination, and airfield safety initiatives.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Manages security and controlled areas in accordance with applicable USAF, DOD, and FAA guidelines to permit safe, efficient, and effective flying operations.
  • Acts as the Wing, Airfield Driving Program Manager in accordance with applicable USAF and DOD regulations.  
  • Process airfield discrepancies, maintain a discrepancy log, track corrective actions, and monitor completion timelines.
  • Coordinate with CE to identify and mitigate obstacles penetrating imaginary surfaces or posing hazards to aircraft operations.
  • Maintain and update the Airfield Lighting Chart; coordinate with CE to assess outages, determine usability impacts, and ensure required NOTAMs are issued.
  • Participate in the FOD Prevention Committee; coordinate with CE, Safety, and Maintenance to ensure proper placement of FOD‑related signage and support FOD reporting and investigations.
  • Perform other position related duties as assigned or requested. 

Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.  
  • Must have completed an accredited Military Airfield Management school.  
  • As a minimum must have held a USAF 7 skill level in airfield management or civilian equivalent; possess a Special Experience Identifier 368; completed the Advanced Airfield Manager Course and have a minimum of three (3) years’ experience managing a Military Base Operations.
  • Knowledge of Air Force, DoD, and FAA flying directives; flight information publications; interpretation of weather observations and forecasts; and NOTAM system is mandatory. 
  • Must have good oral and written communication skills.  
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a required Secret government security clearance.  
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Nevada Driver’s License to drive company vehicles and be able to pass color blindness vision test to obtain Flightline Driver’s Permit.

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:

Typical office environment with no unusual hazards, occasional lifting to 20 pounds, constant sitting while using the computer terminal, constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, and constant mental alertness; must possess planning/organizing skills and be able to work under deadlines. Work may be performed in moderate, variable weather conditions, including periods outdoors.

       

Compensation Details:

$85,000
