This is a unique leadership opportunity for a highly respected industry professional who combines deep technical expertise with strong commercial acumen, client relationship skills, and a passion for growing people and businesses.

Reporting to the National Director, Building Consultancy, you will play a critical role in driving revenue growth, strengthening key client relationships, expanding market presence, and delivering high-quality consultancy and project management services across a diverse portfolio of assets and sectors.

Job Description

Director, Building Consultancy

Sydney | Full-Time

As Director, Building Consultancy, you will lead business development, client engagement and project delivery activities while growing Cushman & Wakefield's presence within your market. You will act as a trusted advisor to clients, delivering strategic advice across building condition, compliance, performance, risk, capital planning and asset management.

You will also play a key role in identifying new opportunities, strengthening cross-service collaboration, mentoring future leaders and contributing to the continued success of the national Building Consultancy team.

What You'll Be Doing

Business Growth & Client Leadership

  • Develop and execute market and sales strategies for your region

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients and stakeholders

  • Identify new market opportunities and service offerings

  • Drive revenue growth and client retention initiatives

  • Collaborate across service lines to deliver integrated client solutions

  • Lead proposal development and major client pursuits

Technical Consultancy

  • Deliver technical building and asset advisory services

  • Undertake building condition audits and technical due diligence assessments

  • Provide strategic asset management and lifecycle planning advice

  • Prepare capital expenditure forecasts and maintenance plans

  • Deliver high-quality technical reports and recommendations

Project Leadership

  • Scope and manage refurbishment, remediation, maintenance and upgrade projects

  • Oversee project governance, quality and risk management

  • Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time and within budget

  • Provide strategic direction to project teams and stakeholders

Team Leadership

  • Support the growth and development of Building Consultancy capability

  • Coach and mentor employees and emerging leaders

  • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement

  • Build a high-performing and engaged team environment

  • Technical Due Diligence

  • Building Condition Assessments

  • Asset Registers

  • Property Insurance Assessments

  • Make Good Assessments

  • Strategic Asset Management Plans

  • Capital & Operational Expenditure Planning

  • Planned Maintenance Programs

  • Tax Depreciation Reports

  • Project Cost Assessments

  • Refurbishment and Remediation Project Management

What We're Looking For

We're interested in speaking with established industry leaders who bring a combination of technical credibility, commercial thinking and people leadership.

Essential Experience

  • 15+ years' experience within the property, construction, engineering or building consultancy sector

  • Demonstrated success in a senior leadership role

  • Strong experience in business development, client management and revenue growth

  • Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary projects and teams

  • Strong understanding of commercial, contractual and risk management principles

  • Established industry networks and market credibility

Qualifications

You will hold a degree in one of the following disciplines (or similar):

  • Building Surveying

  • Engineering

  • Quantity Surveying

  • Construction Management

  • Building Services Engineering

  • Property or Construction-related fields

  • Professional membership or accreditation such as RICS, AIQS, AIPM, CIBSE, Engineers Australia, CIOB or similar will be highly regarded.
