EHS Consultant – Operational Environment & Safety Compliance

About this role

We are currently looking for an experienced EHS Consultant for a long-term consulting assignment with an international company operating in a highly regulated and operational environment in Sweden.

This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys working close to operations, driving continuous improvements within Environment, Health & Safety, and supporting both employees and management in creating a safe and compliant workplace.

You will be part of an established organization with an international footprint, where collaboration, structure, and proactive safety work are highly valued.

About the assignment

In this role, you will support and drive EHS activities across the organization and operational sites. The assignment includes both strategic and operational responsibilities, with a strong focus on compliance, risk management, internal audits, investigations, and continuous improvement initiatives.

You will work closely with different stakeholders across the business and act as an important advisor within health, safety, and environmental matters.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and investigate workplace and organizational risks related to people, operations, and property

  • Develop, maintain, and improve EHS policies, procedures, and internal processes

  • Ensure compliance with Swedish work environment and EHS legislation

  • Conduct risk assessments, hazard evaluations, and incident investigations

  • Support and facilitate internal audits across multiple sites

  • Participate in external audits and inspections

  • Support emergency response and workplace safety initiatives

  • Deliver EHS-related training sessions and workshops

  • Create and maintain training materials related to safety regulations and standards

  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and advisory support to employees and stakeholders

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within EHS processes and compliance

Required qualifications

  • Proven hands-on experience working within EHS in an operational environment

  • Strong knowledge of Swedish EHS and work environment legislation

  • Experience conducting risk assessments and incident investigations

  • Experience developing and maintaining EHS processes and internal audits

  • Excellent communication skills in both Swedish and English

  • Ability to work independently while collaborating across functions and teams

Meritorious experience

  • Experience from multinational or global organizations

  • Knowledge of international EHS standards

  • Experience working with external audits and regulatory authorities

  • Experience delivering EHS training and workshops

  • Coaching and advisory experience within operational organizations

Education

We believe you have post-secondary education within areas such as:

  • Occupational Health & Safety

  • Environmental Science or Environmental Engineering

  • Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, or similar technical discipline

Relevant EHS certifications or qualifications aligned with Swedish legal requirements are highly valued.
