What You'll Be Doing

Job Scope: Hargrove is seeking an experienced Electrical Designer to join our growing team supporting clients across the biotechnology, pharmaceutical, specialty chemical, and industrial manufacturing industries. In this role, you'll contribute to the design of electrical systems that support critical manufacturing operations and facility infrastructure.

We're looking for a designer with strong experience in industrial electrical systems, a passion for problem-solving, and advanced proficiency in Revit to help deliver innovative solutions for complex engineering projects.

Primary responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Develop detailed electrical designs for industrial manufacturing, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and specialty chemical facilities.

  • Create and maintain electrical design deliverables using Revit and other design software platforms.

  • Produce electrical drawings including:

    • Single-line diagrams

    • Electrical room layouts

    • Lighting plans

    • Power distribution layouts

    • Grounding plans

    • Raceway and cable tray layouts

    • Equipment connection diagrams

    • Motor control center (MCC) drawings

    • Cable schedules

    • Equipment installation details

  • Support the design of facility electrical systems serving production, utility, laboratory, and support areas.

  • Develop electrical layouts and installation drawings based on engineering direction, vendor information, and client requirements.

  • Perform electrical design calculations, including:

    • Voltage drop calculations

    • Lighting calculations

    • Conduit and cable tray fill calculations

    • Equipment loading evaluations

  • Review vendor drawings and equipment packages to ensure integration with overall facility design.

  • Collaborate with process, mechanical, structural, architectural, instrumentation, and project management teams.

  • Identify design changes and communicate impacts to project teams in a timely manner.

  • Participate in site visits, field investigations, construction support, and startup activities.

  • Support the continuous improvement of design standards, workflows, and project execution practices.

Ideal Background

Education: Associate degree in Engineering Technology or Computer-Aided Drafting is required.  

Certification: Certification is not required at this level.  

Experience: This position requires 4+ years' experience in electrical design supporting industrial, manufacturing, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, chemical processing, or similar facilities.

Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Experience in Revit is required.

  • Knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC).

  • Ability to develop electrical layouts and installation documents using industry best practices.

  • Experience with:

    • Power distribution systems

    • Facility electrical infrastructure

    • Lighting systems

    • Grounding systems

    • Cable tray and conduit routing

    • Motor control center (MCC) layouts

    • Equipment power connections

  • Ability to perform electrical calculations including:

    • Voltage drop

    • Lighting levels

    • Conduit fill

    • Cable tray fill

    • Electrical equipment loading

  • Ability to interpret vendor drawings and equipment documentation.

  • Understanding of construction documents, specifications, and installation requirements.

  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Virtual team skills and cross divisional relationships continue to develop and provide interoffice execution support under general supervision.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit, stand, or walk for long periods of time.
