The Electrical Engineer will conduct the design, development, testing, and implementation of electrical as well as control and instrumentation systems and components for various projects.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct the design and development of electrical systems, including MV and LV power distribution and control systems.

  • Design of digital and analogue controlled systems (PLC and SCADA control)

  • Collaborate with senior engineers and project managers to create and review technical drawings, schematics, and layouts using CAD software.

  • Conduct calculations and simulations to evaluate system performance and optimize designs.

  • Participate in the testing and validation of electrical components and systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards, regulations and project specific requirements.

  • Develop project documentation, including specifications, reports, and user manuals.

  • Troubleshoot electrical and control issues during projects and for aftermarket support and recommend solutions to improve system reliability.

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineers, project managers, and clients, to meet project requirements and timelines.

  • Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and best practices in electrical, control and instrumentation engineering.

  • Design or be part of, develop, test, and supervise the manufacture, Factory acceptance testing, installation and Site acceptance testing and handover of electrical and instrumentation equipment.

  • Travel to various customer sites for site meetings, commissioning, verify installations, audits and inspections.

  • Assist with costing and tendering of electrical and instrumentation systems.

  • QC/QA of Electrical and Instrumentation components and installations

POSITION CAPABILITIES

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.

  • PR Eng registration or working toward registration

  • 5 years + relevant experience within the Bulk Materials Handling Equipment environment.

  • Solid understanding of electrical and control and instrumentation engineering principles and practices.

  • Proven experience with CAD software creating EC&I drawings.

  • Proven experience with electrical design software and simulation tools.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
