Static Electrician — Newbury
JLL | National Engineering Team
You're qualified, experienced, and capable of proper electrical work. But you're stuck somewhere that sees you as a pair of hands to fill gaps, not a skilled professional with a future.
What if you could join a team that's actually growing — where "static" doesn't mean "stuck," and where your electrical expertise opens doors instead of just fixing lights?
We're building our National Engineering team on a brand new contract in Newbury, and we're looking for electricians who want to grow with us. This is your chance to get in early with a global leader, establish yourself on quality commercial properties, and build a career that goes somewhere.
Why this opportunity is different
Join during growth, not decline
New contract. Expanding portfolio. Growing team. You're not joining something that's coasting — you're part of building something. That means visibility, opportunity, and genuine career progression as the operation scales.
Work on quality commercial properties
Prestigious sites across the capital and South with proper electrical systems. Real fault-finding, emergency lighting testing, and installation works that use your skills — not just lamp changes and socket swaps.
Proper support network
Part of JLL's engineering resources with technical backup, regional teams, and experienced colleagues. You're not isolated on site hoping someone answers the phone when things go wrong.
Training and development that happens
Real progression pathways within a growing organization, not vague promises about "opportunities." As the contract expands, so do the roles — and we promote from within because you already know the sites and clients.
Pay and benefits worth having
Competitive salary with genuine overtime opportunities (not mandatory, but there when you want it). Comprehensive pension, employee benefits, and the stability of working for a FTSE 250 company with long-term contracts.
The complete package
Core compensation:
- Competitive salary based on experience
- Overtime available at enhanced rates
- Stable monthly income with a company that pays on time
Fully equipped:
- Company van with optional personal use
- Fuel card and parking expense card
- Tools and equipment provided
Security & benefits:
- Comprehensive pension scheme
- Employee benefits and wellbeing support
- Life assurance
- Career progression within JLL's global network
Professional development:
- Training opportunities and certification support
- Clear pathways to senior engineer and supervisory roles
- Exposure to modern FM practices and commercial systems
- Grow with the contract as it expands
What you'll be doing
You'll be the site electrician on a quality commercial property in Newbury, handling reactive maintenance, planned building services work, and fault-finding across electrical systems.
Your day involves diagnosing and repairing electrical issues, conducting emergency lighting testing, carrying out minor installation works, and maintaining safe, compliant electrical systems. You'll work on proper commercial installations — distribution boards, lighting controls, power systems, and emergency systems that require genuine electrical knowledge.
This is a static role, meaning you have a home site rather than driving all over the region. You get to know the building, the systems, and the occupants — building expertise and relationships that make you valuable, not replaceable.
And because you're joining during growth, you'll have input into how things develop, not just inherit someone else's problems.
What we need from you
Essential:
- 18th Edition (BS 7671)
- NVQ Level 3 Electrical Installation or equivalent
- Commercial maintenance experience
- Full UK driving licence
What makes you stand out:
- Fault-finding ability and diagnostic skills
- Experience with emergency lighting systems
- Professional approach to site work and client interaction
- Willingness to learn and grow with the contract
The JLL difference: We're looking for electricians who want to establish themselves somewhere that's growing, not just fill a gap. Someone who sees the bigger picture, takes pride in quality work, and wants to build a career in commercial facilities management, not just collect a wage.
What you can expect from us
You'll join JLL's National Engineering team at an exciting time — new contract, expanding portfolio, and genuine opportunities to grow with the business. That means you're not just another electrician on site; you're part of building the operation.
As a global leader in commercial real estate services, JLL offers the stability, resources, and support network that smaller contractors can't match. You'll work on prestigious properties, access proper training and development, and have clear progression pathways as the team grows.
This is your chance to get in early, establish yourself, and grow with a contract that's going somewhere. "Static electrician" doesn't have to mean career dead-end — not when you're with an organization that's expanding.
Ready to join something that's growing?
If you're tired of being undervalued and want to establish yourself with a team that's building momentum, this is your moment.
Apply today with your CV — or reach out if you'd like to know more about the contract and the opportunities ahead.
