Electrician – Voids, Testing & Rewire Specialist
About this role
Electrician
Location: Burton upon Trent and surrounding areas
Salary - basic up to £40,000 per annum
Let’s be real — this isn’t a “swap a socket and clock off” kind of role.
We’re looking for a skilled electrician who thrives on keeping systems safe, reliable, and fully compliant — but who’s equally comfortable getting stuck into full property refurbishments. From testing and fault-finding to complete rewires, this role offers real variety and the chance to see jobs through from start to finish.
At ECS, we’re a multi-award-winning compliance and maintenance team working across social housing, public sector sites, and commercial properties. Partnering with Nottingham City Council, you’ll play a key role in bringing void properties back up to standard — safely, efficiently, and ready for new tenants.
Why this job might be your next move
£38,000 to £40,000 DOE, plus benefits and a company vehicle (your mobile workshop)
Be part of a team delivering essential works across local communities
A varied role — not just testing, but upgrades, rewires, and property turnaround works
Work in void social housing properties, where your impact is immediate and visible
Use modern tools and systems that make your job smoother and more efficient
Join a supportive team with real opportunities to grow and develop your skills
What you’ll be doing
Carrying out a range of electrical works within void properties, preparing homes for reoccupation
Conducting Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICRs) across residential properties
Diagnosing and repairing faults (C1s and C2s) — not just identifying issues, but resolving them on-site
Delivering upgrade works, property adaptations, and full rewires where required
Completing remedial works, including emergency lighting, circuit repairs, and component replacements
Issuing Electrical Installation Certificates (EICs) and ensuring full compliance with regulations
Working as part of a team to meet programme deadlines while maintaining high standards
Managing your own schedule across sites within a local radius
What we’re looking for
NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Electrical Installation
18th Edition qualified
Inspection & Testing certification (2391 / 2394 / 2395 / 2391-52 or EAL equivalent)
Proven experience in social housing, voids, or similar environments
Experience with rewires, upgrades, and property turnaround works
A proactive, quality-focused approach — you take pride in getting it right first time
Strong communication skills — professional and clear
A safety-first mindset, always
If you’re looking for a hands-on role where no two days are the same — and where your work directly improves homes and communities — we’d love to hear from you.
Apply now and let’s talk tools, testing, and teamwork.
