Executive Officer- Academic Board

About this role

  • Remuneration: Level 9, $153k- 163k+ 17% super + leave loading
  • Full-time (35 hours week)
  • Continuing role
  • Location: Kensington (Hybrid work arrangement available)

The Academic Board is the principal academic body of the University of New South Wales, overseeing academic governance and the maintenance of academic standards. As well as supervising academic programs approval, the function has oversight of academic policy, integrity and risk across the university.

As Executive Officer, you’ll play an integral role in providing high-level executive and administrative support to the President of the Academic Board, and Academic Board to coordinate critical issues, services and projects. Overseeing the organisation of high-level committees and forums, and develop briefings, speeches and strategic documents, you’ll enable effective oversight and governance for the function.

Reporting to the President of the Academic Board, you will work with senior leaders, key stakeholders, and a range of academic and professional staff and students across the University to connect strategy, governance and delivery. This is a trusted role requiring sound judgement, discretion, initiative and a strong commitment to the University’s values and purpose.

This role may oversee project staff to support the strategic, operational and administrative aspects of the Academic Board, working closely with administrative and academic teams.

Who you are
Holding a relevant tertiary qualification, you can demonstrate your strategic program and resource planning skills, with a proven track record in project management within the higher education sector. Your communication skills and attention to detail ensure high-quality outputs including reports, documentation and presentations.

Comfortable operating in a fast-paced and complex environment, you exercise sound judgement and tact while managing competing priorities. Your strong analytical skills enable you to address complex business challenges and provide informed advice. Experience in working with governance processes in large organisations, together with exceptional relationship-building, influencing, and negotiation skills, will enable you to collaborate effectively with stakeholders across the University and contribute to the achievement of departmental objectives.
