Job Details:

Mercer Engineering Research Center (MERC), a research institute of Mercer University, provides high-quality engineering, scientific, and technical support services to both government and private industry customers. MERC is currently recruiting for a Facilities Maintenance Technician. The Facilities Maintenance Technician administers and performs facilities maintenance for the Research Center under the direction of the Facility and Safety Manager.


 

RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Performs a broad range of building maintenance tasks for MERC properties in the areas of carpentry, electrical, plumbing, painting, general maintenance, and locksmith duties.
  • Repairs, maintains/monitors all equipment and amenities.
  • Changes light bulbs, interior and exterior, as needed.
  • Performs minor sheetrock repairs.
  • Investigates and prioritizes facilities related work orders and recommends corrective action as necessary to resolve complaints.
  • Moves, assembles, and arranges furniture and equipment per room set-up specifications.
  • Communicates with various employees to keep them informed on repair work which impacts them.
  • Follows safety rules and provides aid/support in emergency situations. Keep work area in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Performs other job-related duties and responsibilities in related areas as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:


  • US Citizenship is required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance.
  • Requires a high school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 6 years of experience with general maintenance.
  • Must be organized, detail oriented, self-motivated, and able to multi-task.
  • Must have good organizational skills to manage the heavy workload.
  • Additional requirements may be added as appropriate and as specified in the specific Personnel Requisition Form.

Final rank will be determined on the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate.
