Facilities Maintenance Technician

About this role

Description:

We are seeking a reliable, hands-on Facilities Maintenance Technician to support the day-to-day maintenance, safety, and operation of our office and warehouse facility. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving problems, coordinating vendors, performing light repairs, and ensuring employees work in a safe, clean, and functional environment.

The Facilities Maintenance Technician will work closely with the Corporate Facilities Manager and serve as the primary point of contact for facility maintenance, vendor coordination, fleet administration, and building-related projects at the local office.

Responsibilities

Facility Operations & Maintenance

  • Perform daily facility walkthroughs and inspections.
  • Monitor HVAC systems and assist with temperature management throughout the facility.
  • Inspect lighting and replace bulbs when necessary.
  • Monitor facility cleanliness and address maintenance needs.
  • Empty shredders and coordinate waste disposal as needed.
  • Monitor data center and MDF room conditions, including AC unit maintenance checks.
  • Ensure fire extinguishers and safety equipment remain compliant and properly maintained.
  • Coordinate and oversee facility repairs and preventative maintenance.
  • Ensure compliance with permits, applicable building, safety, environmental, and fire regulations.

Office support

  • Maintain breakrooms, including:
  • Stocking beverages, snacks, coffee, and supplies
  • Cleaning and maintaining coffee equipment
  • Monitoring inventory levels
  • Maintain office supply inventory, including printer paper and common office materials.
  • Assist employees with facility-related requests.
  • Provide occasional front desk coverage during breaks or absences.

Additional duties

  • Coordinate third-party vendors for HVAC, electrical, plumbing, landscaping, cleaning, pest control, fire safety, and general maintenance services.
  • Obtain quotes and maintain cost-conscious vendor relationships.
  • Monitor service quality and ensure work is completed properly.
  • Conduct routine inspections of company vehicles.
  • Coordinate maintenance, repairs, inspections, and cleaning.
  • Manage vehicle check-in and check-out processes for field personnel.
  • Support warehouse personnel in maintaining facility and inventory security.
  • Assist in developing and documenting facility procedures and best practices.
  • Support facility budgeting efforts through cost-conscious purchasing and vendor management.

Requirements

Skills and experience

  • Basic understanding of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and general maintenance.
  • Experience coordinating maintenance vendors and service providers.
  • Ability to identify facility issues and determine appropriate corrective actions.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams).
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently and follow through on tasks with minimal supervision.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to walk throughout office and warehouse environments.
  • Ability to lift and move items up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Comfortable using ladders and basic hand tools.
  • Ability to work both indoors and outdoors as necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in facilities coordination, building maintenance, property maintenance, or a related field.
  • Experience coordinating contractors and maintenance vendors.
  • Experience supporting company vehicle fleets.
  • OSHA safety training or related certifications are a plus.
