Field Service Engineer II – Global Service and Support (GSS)

Position Summary

As a Field Service Engineer II within Global Service and Support (GSS) at Thermo Fisher Scientific, you'll contribute to delivering excellent service for sophisticated analytical and life scientific instruments. Working with customers across research, industrial, and healthcare settings, you'll install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair complex equipment while providing exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair complex analytical and life science instruments, ensuring reliable operation and timely issue resolution.
  • Provide technical support and customer training, responding promptly to service needs, including short-notice requests.
  • Accurately document service activities and prepare reports using applicable service management systems.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to resolve technical and service issues and achieve customer satisfaction goals.
  • Independently promote and sell service products while collaborating with the team to achieve sales targets.
  • Demonstrate teamwork, professionalism, customer focus, and flexibility across products while adhering to safety, quality, and company standards.
  • Demonstrate strong communication, English proficiency, problem-solving, organization, and time management skills, with the ability to work independently.
  • Ability to interpret technical documentation and schematics, with proficiency in Microsoft Office and service management software.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Engineering, Biochemistry, or a related technical field with 1+ year of relevant hands-on experience on installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing complex analytical or scientific instruments, or
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field with 2+ years of relevant hands-on experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with life science, laboratory, or analytical instrumentation, particularly systems involving fluidics, optics, electronics, or automation.
  • Familiarity with GxP/GLP laboratory environments, instrument qualification, and applicable safety or quality requirements.
  • Relevant technical, electrical/electronic, laboratory safety, or professional certifications are advantageous.

Additional Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel frequently within the assigned territory and internationally when required.
  • Physical ability to lift and handle work-related equipment and perform service activities in laboratory, customer-site, and other applicable environments.
  • Flexibility to work outside normal business hours when required to support urgent customer or business needs.
