Job Title: Field Service Technician
Position Summary
The Repair Crew Member is responsible for performing field-based repairs on wood-framed construction projects, supporting job site operations, and providing excellent service to customers in the field. This role requires hands-on construction skills, problem-solving ability, and a strong commitment to quality and safety. The position also includes handling time-sensitive (“hot shot”) material deliveries and communicating effectively with customers and internal teams.
Key Responsibilities
  • Perform on-site repairs for wood-framed structures, including walls, floors, trusses, and other framing components
  • Diagnose construction issues and determine appropriate repair solutions in the field
  • Complete “hot shot” deliveries of materials, tools, and components to job sites as needed
  • Interact professionally with customers, superintendents, and project stakeholders to assess issues and communicate repair plans
  • Ensure all repair work meets company quality standards, building codes, and safety requirements
  • Document repairs, materials used, and job site conditions accurately
  • Coordinate with internal teams (operations, sales, dispatch) to ensure timely resolution of field issues
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and work vehicles in safe and operational condition
  • Follow all safety policies and procedures, including proper use of PPE
  • Assist with general job site support tasks as needed
Qualifications
  • Experience in wood-framed construction, carpentry, or related field (preferred)
  • Strong understanding of framing methods and construction practices
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and plans (preferred)
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
  • Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, and construction equipment safely
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Effective communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Willingness to travel locally to job sites as needed

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift and carry materials up to 75 lbs
  • Frequent standing, bending, climbing, and working outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Ability to safely navigate active construction sites

Work Environment
  • Primarily field-based at construction job sites
  • Fast-paced, hands-on environment with changing priorities
  • May require early mornings, extended hours, or occasional weekend work depending on project needs

Hourly Pay Range:  $22.00-28.00 per hour (dependent on experience*)
                *pay range may be adjusted depending on cost of living  

 

Bonus/Incentive Pay

Incentive pay may be available for certain job roles and may include piece rate incentives, weekly production bonuses, trip rates, and employee referral bonuses.  A discretionary annual bonus based on Company and business unit performance may also be provided.
