As a Field Technician, you will support the installation, startup, commissioning, maintenance, and repair of Flygt submersible wastewater pumps and associated control panels at customer sites. You will work directly with customers while performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting equipment issues, and providing reliable service solutions.

This role is ideal for someone who is mechanically and electrically inclined, enjoys troubleshooting, and wants to build a career supporting critical water infrastructure.

What You'll Do

  • Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs on submersible wastewater pumps.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues on pumps and control panels.
  • Read and interpret basic electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Assist with equipment startups, commissioning, and emergency service calls.
  • Operate and maintain a company service truck equipped with a crane and outriggers.
  • Safely operate shop equipment, including forklifts and overhead cranes.
  • Utilize company-provided hand and power tools to complete service work.
  • Document service activities accurately using Xylem's work order management system.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while following company and customer safety procedures.
  • Provide professional customer service and communicate effectively with customers on-site.
  • Work collaboratively with teammates while also being able to complete assignments independently.

Travel Requirements

  • Daily local travel is required.
  • Overnight travel up to 50%, depending on location and business needs.

Company Vehicle Requirements

Candidates operating a company vehicle must successfully complete applicable pre-employment driving requirements, including:

  • Motor Vehicle Report (MVR)
  • Driver Application and Disclosure forms
  • Drug and Alcohol Statement
  • FMCSA Certificate of Awareness
  • Driver Certificate of Violations
  • Road Test (if required)
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Medical Certificate (if applicable)
  • Driver Statement of On-Duty Hours (when applicable)

Qualifications

Education

  • High school diploma or GED required.

Experience

  • 0–2 years of technical work experience preferred.
  • Experience with mechanical equipment, electrical systems, pumps, industrial equipment, automotive, diesel, HVAC, or related technical fields is a plus.

Skills

  • Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and identify equipment issues.
  • Ability to understand technical information and communicate findings clearly.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and mobile devices.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work safely in industrial and customer environments.

Work Environment

This position is performed primarily outdoors at customer locations and in industrial shop environments. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required.

The role may involve exposure to:

  • Industrial equipment and machinery
  • Wet environments and wastewater
  • Hazardous materials
  • Loud noise
  • Various weather conditions

Physical requirements include:

  • Standing, walking, bending, climbing, and lifting up to 50 pounds
  • Driving throughout the workday
  • Working occasional overtime
  • Traveling as business needs require

Compensation

Pay Range: $30-33 per hour

Starting pay is based on experience, skills, education, and work location. New hires are typically brought in below the top of the pay range.
