Position Overview
The Financial Systems and Intelligence Manager is responsible for leading the development, integrity and optimisation of the Group’s finance systems, reporting architecture and financial intelligence capability. The role sits at the intersection of finance, systems, data and business performance, ensuring that financial information is accurate, accessible, controlled and capable of supporting timely decision-making across the Group.
This role will support the ongoing maturity of the global finance function by improving financial data governance, streamlining reporting processes, increasing automation, and developing meaningful financial insights for management, executives and the Board. The position will work closely with finance, IT, operations, project managers and regional finance teams to ensure finance systems are reliable, scalable and aligned with the needs of a growing ASX-listed global business.
Key Responsibilities
Finance Systems Ownership and Optimisation
- Own and manage the finance systems roadmap to support accurate, timely and controlled financial reporting across the Group.
- Lead the optimisation of ERP, consolidation, reporting and analytics tools, including identifying opportunities to improve configuration, workflows, controls and user experience.
- Partner with IT and external system providers to resolve finance system issues, manage enhancements and support finance system upgrades or implementations.
- Ensure finance systems are scalable and able to support business growth, acquisition integration and evolving reporting requirements.
- Maintain clear system documentation, process maps and work instructions to support consistent use of financial systems across the Group.
Financial Data Governance and Integrity
- Develop and maintain strong governance over financial master data, including chart of accounts, cost centres, project codes, entities, approval workflows and reporting hierarchies.
- Implement controls to ensure the completeness, accuracy and consistency of financial data used for statutory reporting, management reporting, forecasting and business analysis.
- Identify and remediate data quality issues, working with finance and operational teams to improve source data and transaction discipline.
- Support internal control uplift by ensuring system access, approval workflows and segregation of duties are appropriately designed, documented and monitored.
Financial Intelligence, Reporting and Analytics
- Design and deliver financial intelligence dashboards, reporting packs and analytical tools that provide clear insight into financial performance, risks, opportunities, cash flow, project performance and business trends.
- Translate complex financial and operational data into concise, actionable insights for management, executives, the Audit and Risk Committee and the Board.
- Automate recurring reports and reconciliations where appropriate, reducing manual effort and improving reporting accuracy, consistency and timeliness.
- Develop standardised reporting definitions, metrics and templates to improve comparability across divisions, regions and reporting periods.
- Support budgeting, forecasting and strategic planning processes through reliable financial models, reporting tools and scenario analysis.
Finance Transformation and Continuous Improvement
- Lead finance transformation initiatives that improve the efficiency, control and reliability of financial reporting and decision support processes.
- Identify opportunities to streamline manual processes, reduce spreadsheet dependency and implement repeatable, controlled workflows.
- Support integration of new businesses, entities or regions into Group finance systems and reporting frameworks.
- Drive adoption of finance technology, analytics and automation tools, ensuring solutions are practical, controlled and aligned with finance governance requirements.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement, accountability and data-driven decision-making within the finance function.
Controls, Compliance and Audit Support
- Ensure finance systems and reporting processes support compliance with internal policies, delegated authorities, ASX reporting requirements, AASB, IFRS and audit expectations.
- Support internal and external audit processes by providing system documentation, data extracts, control evidence and explanations of finance system processes.
- Work with finance leadership to strengthen the financial control environment, including controls over data, interfaces, reports, reconciliations and system access.
- Maintain appropriate documentation to support governance, audit readiness and continuity of key finance processes.
Stakeholder Engagement and Business Partnering
- Partner with finance, IT, operations, project management and regional teams to understand reporting needs, system pain points and opportunities for improved financial insight.
- Communicate complex financial systems and data matters in a clear, practical and business-focused way.
- Train and support finance users to improve system capability, reporting confidence and adoption of standard processes.
- Act as a key liaison between finance and technology stakeholders to ensure system changes appropriately balance business requirements, control needs and reporting outcomes.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, Information Systems, Business Analytics or a related discipline.
- CA, CPA or equivalent professional qualification desirable.
- Minimum 5–7 years’ experience in finance, financial systems, business intelligence, reporting, analytics or finance transformation roles.
- Strong understanding of financial reporting, management reporting, internal controls and finance processes in a complex organisation.
- Experience with ERP and financial reporting systems, preferably in a multinational, project-based or ASX-listed environment.
- Advanced Excel capability and experience with business intelligence or data visualisation tools such as Power BI, Power Query or similar platforms.
- Experience improving finance systems, automating reporting, implementing controls or supporting system upgrades or integrations.
- Exposure to Epicor or similar financial and management information systems desirable.
