Job Summary: The Fleet Technician I is responsible for the inspection, preventive maintenance, and repair of various light and heavy-duty equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.    

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 
•    Perform preventive maintenance and repair on various equipment, including light and heavy-duty trucks, utility trailers, specialty trailers, power generation equipment, and other specialized equipment
•    Correct vehicle deficiencies within skill level (e.g. change, replace, and repair tires, brake systems, bearings, and light systems), and escalate complex or advanced repairs that require a work order to management  
•    Assist with diagnostics and troubleshooting of more advanced under supervision or direction  
•    Verify vehicle performance by conducting test drives and adjusting controls and systems 
•    Maintain vehicle appearance by cleaning, washing, painting, and installing decals 
•    Maintain vehicle records by annotating services and repairs accurately and in a timely manner   
•    Complete all required Company documentation  
•    Ensure compliance with safety procedures, regulations, and Company standards at all times  
•    Other duties as assigned

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or ability required.

Education: High school diploma, general education degree (G.E.D.), or related trade school education

Experience: 
•    One to three years of relevant automotive or equipment maintenance work experience
•    Ability to weld and fabricate parts and assemblies 
•    Ability to operate or learn to operate forklifts, light-duty trucks, CDL trucks, and trailers

Technical Skills:
•    Commercial driver’s license (CDL) strongly preferred 
•    Ability to operate shop machinery and equipment
•    Ability to use hand tools 

Soft Skills:
•    Ability to read, comprehend, and carry out instructions 
•    Initiative and accountability for completing tasks accurately and safely
•    Ability to work independently with minimal supervision 
•    Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment under tight deadlines
•    Team oriented with effective communication skills 

Physical Requirements: 
•    Must be able to pass pre-employment screening that includes background and drug testing
•    Must have a valid driver’s license and a driving record that meets Company requirements
•    Must be in good physical condition with the ability to stoop, crawl, bend at the knees and waist, squat, and lift up to 50 lbs. 
•    Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) for extended periods
•    Ability to work in various settings with moderate to loud noise levels  
•    Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather  
•    Ability to work long and unpredictable hours 
•    Ability to travel up to 25% of the time, including short notice travel.  Travel includes local site travel or national travel depending on business needs.
