Background

Leadership For Skilled Education Foundation (branded as Leadership for Equity, LFE) is a non-profit organisation based in Pune, Maharashtra, working to strengthen India’s public education system so that every child learns and thrives. We envision public education systems that refuse to let children down.
LFE partners with state and district governments across multiple states—including Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, and Haryana—to improve teaching practices and build sustained academic support structures within the public system. Our work is anchored in the belief that public education systems are the gatekeepers of social equity, and strengthening them is essential to ensuring that every child has access to strong foundational and future-ready learning.

Approach

LFE’s systems-change approach focuses on improving classroom practice and enabling government ownership through three core levers:
  1. Co-creating high-quality curricular resources and building teacher capacity
  2. Developing academic leadership to coach and mentor teachers
  3. Providing data-driven advisory support and policy implementation guidance
Our model empowers teachers as instructional leaders and embeds long-term support through government-run mentor cadres, continuous classroom observation cycles, and in-system academic structures. Technology plays a critical role, including an in-house Classroom Observation App for real-time monitoring and a WhatsApp-based teacher support chatbot for contextual resource delivery.
The approach is iterative and context-responsive, grounded in classroom realities and tailored to state and district needs. Implementation varies across geographies—whether working directly with teachers or through government-appointed mentors—ensuring relevance and feasibility within existing structures. A continuous feedback loop of training, observation, and coaching moves beyond one-time interventions toward sustained practice change. All programs are co-designed and co-implemented with government partners to ensure scale, sustainability, and systemic ownership, ultimately leading to improved student learning outcomes in foundational and future literacy.

About the Work: Shikshak Sahyogi Chatbot

LFE is developing the Shikshak Sahyogi Chatbot as a conversational academic support partner for teachers.
Teachers will be able to use the chatbot to access:
  • Lesson plans
  • Classroom activities
  • Support for addressing student misconceptions
  • Strategies for differentiated classrooms
  • Assessment and practice questions
  • Introductory classroom activities
  • Model responses and other academic resources
The intent is to provide teachers with reliable academic support when a mentor is unavailable. The chatbot will be accessible through WhatsApp, a platform teachers already use regularly, and will provide contextual resources and responses grounded in expert-reviewed content.
As part of this initiative, LFE is developing a large FLN Question Repository for Grades 1–5. The repository will include chapter-mapped and competency-mapped questions aligned with the Haryana FLN Curriculum Framework, NIPUN Bharat goals, and Haryana SCERT/NCERT textbooks.

Job Description and Responsibilities

The External Consultant – FLN Content Developer (Hindi) will be responsible for creating and curating high-quality FLN questions for Grades 1–5 in Hindi Language and Mathematics. The consultant will work with curriculum frameworks, textbooks, competency lists, learning objectives, and other reference resources provided by LFE to develop a structured and high-quality question repository.

Question Bank Development and Curation (60%)

  • Create and curate FLN questions for Grades 1–5 in Hindi Language and Mathematics.
  • Develop questions aligned with the Haryana FLN Curriculum Framework, NIPUN Bharat targets, and Haryana SCERT/NCERT textbooks.
  • Develop both chapter-mapped and competency-mapped questions.
  • Develop questions across appropriate cognitive levels and question formats.
  • Create plausible distractors for MCQs based on common student misconceptions.
  • Create or curate appropriate passages for comprehension-based questions where required.
  • Develop multiple variants for high-frequency competencies to avoid repetition.
  • Ensure that content is age-appropriate, contextually relevant, inclusive, and linguistically suitable for children.

Answer Verification and Content Accuracy (15%)

  • Provide a correct and verified answer key for every question.
  • Re-solve all Mathematics questions before submission.
  • Verify Language answers against the relevant passage, text, or reference material.
  • Ensure that each question has one clear and defensible answer.
  • Ensure that questions are self-contained and unambiguous.

Curriculum Mapping and Metadata (15%)

  • Map every question accurately to the relevant chapter or competency.
  • Use competency codes and chapter names exactly as provided in the Haryana reference framework.
  • Complete all required metadata and tagging fields.
  • Ensure correct classification of question type and cognitive level.
  • Attach or reference required images and passages appropriately.

Quality Improvement and Revision (10%)

  • Self-review all content before submission.
  • Incorporate reviewer feedback within agreed timelines.
  • Correct questions requiring revision.
  • Maintain consistency in language, formatting, mapping, and answer keys.
  • Coordinate with the LFE Content Team and the assigned Content Reviewer.

Requirements

Education & Experience

  • Graduate or postgraduate degree in Education, Hindi, Mathematics, Social Sciences, or a related field.
  • 1–2 years of relevant experience in FLN, educational content development, worksheet development, assessment creation, question-bank development, or curriculum support.
  • Experience creating or curating Hindi-medium educational content.
  • Prior experience in FLN programmes will be preferred.
  • Experience in assessment design or curriculum development will be an added advantage.

Knowledge, Skills & Capabilities

  • Good understanding of Foundational Literacy and Numeracy.
  • Strong written proficiency in Hindi.
  • Understanding of the learning needs of children in Grades 1–5.
  • Familiarity with school curricula, textbooks, competencies, and learning outcomes.
  • Ability to create clear, age-appropriate, and unambiguous questions.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and meet daily and monthly targets.
  • Openness to feedback and ability to incorporate revisions quickly.
  • Proficiency in Google Drive, Google Docs, and Google Sheets.
  • Ability to work systematically with large volumes of structured content.

Location and Compensation

Location: Remote, assignment-based engagement. Periodic in-person reviews, workshops, training sessions, or coordination meetings may be required. The consultant should be available to work from the office approximately 2–3 days per month, or as required by the project.
Duration: Six months, Performance will be reviewed after the first month. Continuation for the remaining assignment period will be based on content quality, output, adherence to guidelines, mapping accuracy, responsiveness to feedback, and overall performance.
Compensation: ₹25,000–₹30,000 per month, depending on relevant experience, demonstrated expertise, and performance in the selection process.
