Role focus
This is a Flutter-first role, but it is not a frontend-only role. We're a small team building from scratch — you'll own features end to end, from the widget to the API that feeds it. Candidates without hands-on backend experience won't be a fit, regardless of how strong the Flutter side is.
Required Skills
- 3+ years of strong proficiency in Flutter and Dart, with production apps shipped to both the App Store and Play Store.
- Hands-on backend development experience (mandatory). You should have built and shipped server-side code yourself — not just consumed APIs written by someone else. Node.js/TypeScript is our stack; comparable experience in another language is fine if you're willing to pick it up.
- Experience designing and building REST APIs, not only integrating them — request/response design, validation, error handling, pagination, versioning.
- Working knowledge of databases and data modelling (we use DynamoDB and Elasticsearch; SQL or other NoSQL experience translates).
- Exposure to cloud infrastructure and serverless deployment (AWS Lambda, API Gateway, S3, or equivalent on GCP/Azure). Comfort with infrastructure-as-code is a plus.
- Strong understanding of OOP, data structures, algorithms, and problem-solving.
- Good understanding of mobile architecture patterns (MVVM, Clean Architecture, etc.) and how they map onto the backend contracts behind them.
- Understanding of application lifecycle, state management, performance optimization, and debugging across both client and server.
- Experience integrating third-party SDKs and services (payments, analytics, push, maps).
- Familiarity with Git and Agile concepts (user stories, backlog, sprints).
- A proactive mindset to build things from scratch in an unstructured environment.
- High ownership, curiosity, and the ability to balance pragmatism with quality.
- Good communication and collaboration skills; a quick learner with a growth mindset.
- Interest in the Retail & E-commerce space, and in building tech that works for small-town India.
Nice to have
Experience with quick-commerce, logistics, or POS systems; CI/CD for mobile releases; observability and cost optimization on cloud infra.
Education
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field.
