The Opportunity
Join Hitachi Energy and play a key role in strengthening Canada's energy infrastructure through the installation, commissioning, testing, and maintenance of Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS). In this position, you will support critical power transmission projects that help deliver safe, reliable, and sustainable energy throughout Canada. Following comprehensive technical training, you will take ownership of field service activities, coordinate on-site work, and collaborate with customers and internal teams to achieve successful project outcomes. Your work will directly support the performance, reliability, and safety of electrical networks while providing opportunities to build specialized expertise in high-voltage equipment, maintenance practices, commissioning activities, and customer support within the power industry.
How You'll Make an Impact
Coordinate and execute on-site GIS installation, commissioning, maintenance, repair, and upgrade activities.
Apply technical knowledge of Gas Insulated Switchgear to resolve field challenges and support successful project delivery.
Collaborate with customers, contractors, and internal teams to ensure safe and efficient execution of service work.
Implement quality and safety practices that reduce risk and support operational excellence.
Build positive customer relationships while identifying opportunities to support future service needs.
Troubleshoot equipment issues, recommend corrective actions, and help prevent potential failures.
Prepare field reports, service documentation, protocols, and progress updates.
Serve as the Person in Charge of Work (PICW), conduct safety assessments, lead site safety meetings, and issue permits as required.
Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.
Your Background
Candidate must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in Canada.
Trade education and experience in a field such as Industrial Mechanics or Electrical Trades.
Experience coordinating and managing crews on electrical projects.
Experience in power generation, transmission, and distribution, or transferable industry experience.
Sound mechanical and electrical capabilities, with experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, and test equipment software.
Valid Canadian driver's license and willingness to travel extensively across Canada (approximately 80% travel).
Fluent in English
