Topic: Hierarchical Assembly and Post-Self-Assembly Processing of Colloidal Nanomaterials at CNM
This Guest Faculty collaboration will focus on hierarchical assembly, interfacial organization, and post-self-assembly processing of colloidal nanomaterials at the Center for Nanoscale Materials (CNM), in close collaboration with Dr. Elena Shevchenko. The scope is directly aligned with CNM capabilities in nanoparticle assembly, microscopy, and nanoscale structural analysis, and will support both completion of ongoing collaborative manuscripts and development of new joint research directions. In the near term, the work will concentrate on two active projects. The first is a manuscript on self-assembly and oriented attachment behavior in halide perovskite nanoplatelets, where the collaboration will help finalize mechanistic interpretation, figure development, and structure–assembly analysis. The second is a manuscript involving MXene-based nanomaterial systems, where the collaboration will support data analysis and interpretation of interfacial organization, morphology, and collective structural behavior. More broadly, the collaboration will establish a CNM-centered framework for studying how colloidal nanocrystals and hybrid nanomaterials evolve from isolated building blocks into ordered or partially ordered mesoscale assemblies. This effort will leverage Elena Shevchenko’s expertise in 2-D and 3-D nanoparticle assembly and post-self-assembly processing, together with relevant CNM characterization capabilities in electron microscopy and nanoscale structural analysis, to connect nanoscale organization with emergent functional behavior. Expected outcomes include completion of ongoing perovskite and MXene manuscripts, generation of preliminary results for future joint projects, and development of a longer-term collaboration in hierarchical nanomaterial assembly and interface-resolved characterization at CNM.
