Role Overview

The Head – Maintenance/ Engineering is responsible for ensuring high equipment reliability, maximum plant uptime, and safe, cost‑effective maintenance operations at the Surendranagar facility. The role focuses on preventive and predictive maintenance, breakdown reduction, utilities management, and continuous improvement to support uninterrupted production and business performance.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Maintenance Strategy & Execution
  2. Develop and implement preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance systems.
  3. Ensure maximum equipment availability, reliability, and lifecycle management.
  4. Drive reduction in breakdowns, downtime, MTTR, and maintenance-related losses.
  5. Establish and monitor maintenance KPIs such as MTBF, MTTR, OEE, and uptime.
  6. Plant & Equipment Management
  7. Oversee maintenance of all mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and utility equipment.
  8. Ensure proper documentation of equipment history, SOPs, manuals, and spares.
  9. Lead root cause analysis (RCA) for chronic and critical failures and implement CAPA.
  10. Utilities & Infrastructure
  11. Manage utilities including power, DG sets, compressors, boilers, water systems, HVAC, and other plant services.
  12. Ensure uninterrupted utility supply aligned with production requirements.
  13. Drive energy efficiency and cost optimization initiatives.
  14. Safety, Statutory & Compliance
  15. Ensure compliance with statutory requirements related to plant maintenance and utilities.
  16. Enforce EHS standards, safe maintenance practices, and permit-to-work systems.
  17. Support internal and external audits and ensure timely closure of observations.
  18. Spares, Inventory & Cost Control
  19. Plan and control maintenance budgets and expenses.
  20. Optimize critical spares inventory and maintenance consumables.
  21. Coordinate with purchase and stores teams for timely availability of spares.
  22. Continuous Improvement
  23. Drive TPM, Lean Maintenance, Kaizen, and reliability improvement initiatives.
  24. Implement condition monitoring, predictive tools, and digitization/CMMS usage.
  25. Support productivity, yield improvement, and cost reduction programs.
