We are seeking a Senior Assistant Director / Deputy Director, IT Operations to provide senior College-level IT leadership for the College of Engineering (CoE). The role is accountable for shaping and driving IT strategy, service delivery, and operational outcomes across multiple Schools, ensuring alignment with University direction and CITS operating models, standards, and governance frameworks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and prioritise IT demand across multiple Schools, making trade-offs to optimise outcomes at College level.

  • Oversee and be accountable for delivery of IT programmes and initiatives at scale, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture, security, and governance requirements.

  • Own IT service delivery performance across the College, ensuring reliability, consistency, and quality of end-user experience.

  • Drive standardisation of platforms, systems, and processes, reducing fragmentation and improving scalability across Schools.

  • Establish and enforce governance frameworks for demand, delivery, and service performance across Schools.

  • Lead and develop a federated organisation of School IT teams, establishing clear operating structures, accountability, and capability across the College.

  • Act as the senior IT interface between the College and CITS, engaging Deans and senior stakeholders to align priorities and drive outcomes.

  • Influence stakeholder behaviour and decision-making, ensuring alignment with enterprise IT strategies and operating models.

  • Optimise utilisation of IT resources and investments, ensuring value realisation and alignment with strategic priorities.

Requirements:

  • Experience leading IT across complex, multi-entity environments (e.g. multiple departments, business units, or institutions).

  • Strong understanding of enterprise IT operations, service delivery, and governance frameworks.

  • Proven track record in driving large-scale IT initiatives and programmes across multiple stakeholder groups.

  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, with experience engaging senior leadership and decision-makers.

Good-to-have

  • Experience in higher education or public sector environments.

  • Familiarity with enterprise architecture, cybersecurity, and data governance practices.
