TrustFlight is the Aerospace Safety Intelligence Platform, integrating safety and security technology, training and consulting and emergency preparedness and response into a single connected ecosystem. Baines Simmons provides one of the four capabilities of TrustFlight services and for over 25 years has been building the safety competence of civil and defence aerospace organisations around the world, serving over 750 organisations, over 40 regulatory authorities and trained over 200,000 professionals.

The Head of Business Development (Training) is responsible for driving sustainable, quality revenue growth across Baines Simmons’ training portfolio by leading the sales execution, pipeline management and client engagement activities. The role ensures that training offerings are effectively positioned in the market, aligned with customer needs, and contribute directly to TrustFlight’s strategic growth objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and execution of the training business development strategy to achieve revenue growth targets

  • Drive new business acquisition and expand existing client accounts across global aviation markets

  • Manage and develop the Academy and In-Company sales team, including performance, coaching, and capability building

  • Own the full sales lifecycle, ensuring robust pipeline management, forecasting accuracy, and conversion performance

  • Collaborate with Product and Operations teams to align training offerings with market demand and client needs

  • Develop and implement pricing, packaging, and commercial propositions to maximise market competitiveness

  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with key clients, partners, and industry stakeholders

  • Drive continuous improvement of processes and systems to increase velocity and quality

Required Qualifications & Experience:

  • 8+ years’ experience in business development or sales, with at least 2 years in a management or leadership role

  • Proven track record of delivering revenue growth and achieving commercial targets

  • Experience in B2B sales within training, professional services, or aviation-related sectors

  • Strong understanding of complex sales cycles and stakeholder management

Desirable Skills & Experience:

Experience within aviation training, safety, or regulatory environments

Experience working within a global or multi-entity organisation

Professional sales or commercial certifications

AI Fluency Tier:

Tier 2 — AI Practitioner

  • Applies AI to optimise processes and decisions

  • Designs prompts and workflows that leverage AI for analysis, reporting, or automation. Evaluates AI output quality and bias. Identifies new AI use cases within their function. Shares best practices with the team.

Role-Specific AI & Digital Skills:

  • Use AI tools to analyse sales data, pipeline trends, and customer behaviour insights

  • Leverage AI for proposal drafting, bid writing, and commercial documentation

  • Utilise AI for market research, competitor analysis, and opportunity identification

  • Drive adoption of AI-enabled sales tools within the team to improve efficiency and performance
